hello, i started dj almost a year ago, started out with keyboard and mouse, but ive found myself on a spending spree but im afraid i dont know what to upgrade too so all knowledge will be greatly appreciated.

what im working with now.
-hercules dj 4 set controller
-virtual dj pro 7
-kicker headphones
-asus laptop bought for the program
-gemini speaker set (powered) 2x speakers and 1 sub all speakon connections.

i bought a macbook pro
and what i have in myamazon cart now
-numark ns6
-serato itch
- fanny wang dj headphones

but i want to further my show and knowledge
i want to learn how to do a light show as well as music
im a welder in the navy so i made a custom truss system
i went to 123dj.com and bought a dmx controller
but i dont know which lights or effects, hell even what program top run them
im new to that side of the house, but im very interested in the light show as well as the music. so please any info or help would be great, thanks

I have to agree with Joker, i would say investing in a new set of speakers would be a great first investment. For pro speakers at an affordable price i would look at the EV Live X as your first set of speakers. As far as lighting goes, you could get a pair of scanners with Gobo's and a couple of Chauvet Slim Par 56's to shine on your dance floor and you could put the scanners and the Slim pars all on 1 tstand and wired into your dmx controller for a great small compact light show. hey thanks for the info, yeah i dont like my speakers to begin with as soon as i turn them up a bit from the equalizer on my controller i start coning and ove bass sets in, sounds like a bad techno show lol, other than that another big question of mine is what kind of amp should i run if i plan on a 2 speaker 1 sub set up? or like the gemini are they powered by the sub I.E. the ev live x

The Live X, like your current set-up are also powered. They do make a passive version that can be run with an amp, but i'd just recommend the powered versions. And if you're using the sub then i'd recommend you get the 12 inch tops, they are nice and compact and sound great with the 18 inch sub. If you find it in your budget in the future, pick up a pair of the subs to go along with the tops and then you can pole mount your tops in the subs. Also another great feature of the Live X is that it's all very portable you'll be able to fit all of your speakers in a small SUV for transporting.

hell yeah bro, i appreciate it im looking at them now, 2 subs, 2 cones, but now im i have another question, like my first set up the sub only supported 2 tops, so in theory i could run 4 tops and 2 subs and y all the speakon or is that "too much" lol go big or go home right lol
but on a serious note, would i just run 1 top to each sub the use a splitter to the speakon because my current controller on has 1 set of "out rca's"

You have to have a certain minimum reputation level to make some changes. Give it a week or so and you should be good.
