Scott...are those "wireless"? I've been looking for additional Puck 3 (RBG), but they don't make them any longer. I've been in dialogue with Ben regarding Puck 3NX, but have not yet committed to purchase.
No, not wireless. I just had a hard time justifying the ROI going with the wireless units at this time.
I'd also be curious how these work out (specifically the amber version). It seems the pricing is nearly similar to the Puck 3NX.
It's also strange the 3NX has 9x3w LEDs (27 total watts output) vs the 6x10W (60w total) of the 6a, yet has almost 50% more lumenosity. Maybe the 3w LEDs have a narrower throw than the 10w ones.

There are shid load of PArs being sold on dj fb sites classifeds forums etc either there is a new kid in town or the 40 units are collecting dust for most stored neatly with the Chocolate Fountains. People who cant even sell their DJ services are finding they cant sell uplighting especially when the halls are buying the cheap units and adding them to shows for free.
As for wireless DMX I would recommend getting some of the ADJ or Chauvet for the first light in the wall so you would use one receiver per wall (Total 4) and just wire the lights on each wall, won't have to worry about doors and other stuff.
I never understood why some guys would go out and buy umpteen+ uplights, especially when they where way pricier a year or so ago. I knew it would come to this.
Because some of us can sell it.... I have brides that seek me out solely because I can and have done uplighting at their chosen venue.... when that happens it's a no brainer.

I make mowney on uplighting when I didnt spend a dime to get into it and I dont even have to store them. I have many different options to choose from as well since its determined what I need. Pars, Flat pars, bars etc etc. When the latest greatest come out I get to use them immediately as well.

Not backward. A strategic withdrawal. When the ROI is there, maybe I'll go back to them. In the meantime, I'll use CFL or LED bulbs. Trying out different ones now so I can still be green and get a better choice and consistent colors.
Good for you. Do they usually want you as their DJ as well or simply request to rent your lighting packages? Either would work with me.
I am all about the roi. Ive found the pucks to have a great roi. Now to be fair, I don't have any experience with traditional par cans for lighting, so I can't say the roi is better on these.
I just never felt comfortable putting hot lights on the ground where people can bump into them, so I avoided getting into this until the leds came out
Are any of you that sell/offer up-lighting using DMX or do you set it and forget it? I won a contract this weekend just by demonstrating basic DMX controls. We met at the venue and during the demo she asked if I could change the color of every other up-light to another coordinating color during certain segments of the reception. I showed her real time in her desired colors and she was overjoyed. I have played at two venues that had their own lights and neither was setup for DMX.
