Phone book advertising? In 2012? What's working best for me.

So, not all that long ago, we got new phones books. They are probably 20% of the size they used to be. We are getting ready to makes Smores this weekend, and I will be using the phone book as starter material for the wood, LOL. But, before that, I did look inside to see if there were any DJs still advertising in the phone book... and sure enough, there were a few.

Sure, I have websites, just like all of you do. But what I have found out is, that for me, the absolute best advertising I have is the DVDs I make and mail out. Nothing else even comes close.

I'm going to guess that websites are the best source for most people, but if they aren't, I would love to hear what works best for you, other than referrals.

FB and my website that does very well in search engines......absolutely the best combination, imo. I'm also working on additional social and mobile media marketing as well.

I throw the phone books away.

What works for me other than Referrals are Entertainment Agencies and visiting Venues, Clubs, Bars etc and promoting myself in person.

Great topic! Since starting back up I have had success with DJ directories, venue visits, and self promotions. Initially it was venue visits and self promotion. I recently added DJ directories and have won a few deals that will keep me busy through the rest of the year. I am working on how to use social media and plan to add entertainment agencies next year as I scale toward my 2014 multi-op goal.

Then again, I didn't have a website until December of 2011.

Well, remember, my main business is for kids..... I search for schools, daycare centers, and I have a thing I do with martial arts centers.

So you don't really "advertise"...you just do you're own research!
