The horns are the mids..there is a small tweeter just above them.

2 of these stacks and 4 amps to push them is something I am seriously thinking about getting back into. My kid brother is working on his Masters and is looking to jump into a little endeavor to help fund his next 2 years. He made some pretty good money working with a lighting company and now wants to get into sound. I to am looking for another avenue to add to my bottom line and this may be it.

Steve! The bottom 15"s are the subs. Top set of 15"s are mid basss and top horns are the high's. It's actually a 4 way set up.
Amp 1 on tweeters​
Amp 2 on Horns​
Amp 3 on dual 1601Bs for ​
mid bass
Amp 4 on dual 1801 subs​
 
The outdoor rig is a completely different ball of wax but I will stick by my thoughts on the living room set up, I would sound like absolute crap-diddly-doo. Steve, I saw the little tweeter up there and figured that the horn was for the mid section but that is for SR and not near-field. The human voice is roughly 100 to 1000 Hz so that set-up would sound terrible in that setting. Heck, in any SR setting you would want something to carry the mid bass and mid-range better than those big woofers crossing over directly into those horns. Can you say HARSH? I know you can... Say it with me now, HARSH. I like the way you say that! :cool:
 
Some of the older JBL SR boxes had a wooden midrange horn and that one above looks just like it. It was pretty sweet sounding, so I wouldn't write off the sound purely on the fact it is horn based.

At low volumes they would sound just fine.
 
The speakers in the second picture stack are part of a 10 stack set up. Ten identical stacks. 2 of the stacks are up for sale. The builder/designer is Brian Wilson, this guy knows his stuff.
 
I grew up with my best friend / best man from the age of 5. He Is an audiophile as well as an electronics technician. I built a number of boxes growing up and he still does; crazy... We built FM transmitters that had the department of communications looking for us because we were too powerful. Hey, we only wanted our basement radio station to be heard for a few blocks, more or less... I stand by what I said about the living room set-up.

Steve, I was only referring to the original photo, not the second one. I am sure that one sounds great for high level SR applications.
 
Home built tops on top of B-52 horns.
BTW the table topper lighted facade is also home built.

3 years. I have 2 of them one no sound activation one has.

Here is a picture of it and an ADJ H2O led together to make a cheap bliss light lookalike.
