It's hard to summarise the amount of rubbish out there, some examples would be..
My friend had an 18th where the dj had good sound but was running of outdated cd's with gaps between songs, no talking or atmosphere and the equipment was just old, like a decade old! I asked how much they charged and he told me £170..
Another would be my cousins 18th just a few days ago and the lighting was pretty spot on, good sound but the dj was using VDJ with no controller, no mixing or blending aside from automix and must have said 2 words all night, that cost her £200 pounds.
I mean ive just brought a qtx system with a basebin and two small tops, and then two 12" active speakers, two galaxian gem led's, two quasar emerald lasers, two chauvet kinta's, will be getting two more effect lights but not 100% what to get yet and a central effect aswell, a hurricane 1300 fog machine a couple speaker and lighting stands and then run two denon cd decks as backup and an omni controller on VDJ, i can mix pretty well, i mostly play funky house but i play all music pop, 90's, commercial dance etc stuff you would play at 18th or 21st, a little nervous as doing my first 18th on 10th of august for a friend, im used to playing as a radio would as i dj at a roller rink so a bit of everything for familys or youth nights etc, i know what to play to who but i want to start mobile and do that on the side and when i feel confident apply for a few local clubs or bars, but after seeing whats actually out there around my area at present its really nothing exiting, i mean theres a few decent dj's who have really smart lighting and an official trailer and all of that but they want at least 200-300 a night so really i was thinking about doing it for 80-100 a night to start to get some business and then just see what happens, is that a plan?
