Gang - A DJ buddy gave me this to look over. Started w/ distorted audio and cuts out. This is the Chinese version. So, does anyone have repair experience of what it might be? I know many cases solder needs reflowing, but not sure where. Thanks!!!

More detailed information is needed. Maybe so photos too!

Well, when I first fired them up, the audio was distorted. Sounded like a blown driver. Then nothing. Then turned up gain and got a loud blast of sound then nothing again. I see the green light blink so I know it is getting signal but nothing from the speakers. Not sure what pictures would show - just a circuit board. A company will refurb for $220 but was trying to help a brother out.

How many speakers do you have, are they a pair?
Have you tried swapping them to ensure that it is not the speaker but maybe an incoming signal?
How are things connected?

Re-reading the post, it could certainly be the board, but that'll be a much more expensive repair. The things aren't difficult to repair, but I've been told they're a bear to take apart.

Again, I am comfortable doing the repair but might just have him ship to a depot or just get a new system.

The Mackies still sell (sold a pair a few months ago on eBay for $480).

Dude at the depot said it (module) is running fine - so we might have a driver issue....
