Who are some of the most recognizable voices of Recording Artists Male & Female?

My choices are:
Male:
Ray Charles
Rod Stewart
Elton John
Frank Sinatra
Barry White
Isaac Hayes
James Brown

Female:
Dionne Warwick
Barbara Streisand
Whitney Houston
Dolly Parton
 
BTW, a lot of folks don't know he did the backing vocals for Carly's "Your So Vain". Harry Nilson was supposed to do it, but Mick walked in, and since they had been a couple prior, Harry bowed out because he thought they sounded better together.

it's cute how you say "we." i answered the guy's question. i wasn't instructed to use his parameters. all of the singers are superstars in their own right. in earlier threads, ahoustondj has asked us to think outside the box. it's such a no-brainer to choose singers that the so-called majority of the people in the usa and canada have heard from.

Im not familiar with Edu Lobo, Andy Bey, Donval Caymmi or Elis Regina but the ones in blue most should have a clue if they were a PROFESSIONAL DJ other than maybe Eros Ramazzotti.

or if the "boxes" they operate out of are tiny indeed, LOL. this is why i'm so amused—many of us are only aware of what's happening in our own little worlds. most brazilians (a major market, though not "ours") can probably recognize dorival caymmi, edú lobo, or elis regina in one note. i'm not saying that every DJ, however professional, must know these people, especially if they don't play anything outside what's probably considered "the norm" in this forum. i would expect them to know more about music than the average person, although i realize that that's not always the case. i'm just having a bit of fun here.

Well lissen here buddy! I asked this question in the US to mainly US DJs. Be careful whose fancy yer tickle. Everyone is tense these days. Boxers are disappearing in cracks (Ask Rob). There are lots o' hungry 'gators in Florida and 'onery Rattlesnakes in Texas. Just having a lil fun here too!

Ahh, don't worry -- my guess is NC is gonna get a nice hurricane this year. I need to make a new doll -- best I got is a used sock right now. I guess I can make do... ;)
