Help on Choosing Moving Heads

I am NOT looking for expensive moving heads atm because I can't afford them but I do need some moving heads within the $500-$1200 range for two specifications. I haven't had a chance to see these lights in person so I would love to hear your inputs.

1) 2x Moving heads to hang on standard 10ft (diameter) truss for small-medium size dance floors:

Qspot 160 LED VS. Intimidator 250 LED
Qpot 260 LED VS. Intimidator 350 LED

Is it worth it to pay extra for the qspot 260/intimidator 350?

2) 4x Moving heads to project good quality custom gobo onto ceiling of medium-large banquet rooms:

Note: Heads must be able to fit most custom gobo sizes

Any of the ones listed above. Any suggestion from other brands like American DJ or similar priced companies? Thankssssss
 
For example one, the Q-Spot 260 LED is hard to beat. It's a step up from anything in the Intimidator line, and its 60W LED is plenty bright. I realize that the Intimidator 350 LED has a 75W LED, but there's only one gobo wheel in that fixture. Having two gobo wheels gives you many more options and opens up a world of creativity.

A Q-Spot 160 LED has just a 20W LED... so yes, it's worth the extra money to get a Q-Spot 260.

For example two, I wouldn't go with moving heads. You'll get better results with some lekos set up on tripods around the room, aimed at the ceiling. They're cheaper than moving heads, so you'll be able to afford more of them. A ceiling projection using 8 lekos will undoubtedly look better than a projection using 4 moving heads.
 
Hi B-sharp thank you for your valuable input! I will definitely look into all of your suggestions. What Lekos do you recommend? And is it possible for the Lekos to display color and rotate the gobo? Im planning on getting some seashell like custom gobos and need a blue/purple background color
 
The ETC Source Four is pretty much the standard among lekos. However, because we're talking about high-powered spotlights here, you'll only get color if you use a color (glass) gobo or put a gel holder on the front of the fixture. Rotation is only possible if you buy the rotator attachment for the fixture.

You'll need either moving heads or scanners if you want the patterns to truly move.
 
Out of those options the 260's are the only choice. The 350 only has a manual focus and the single gobo wheel so I would scratch it off the list. The 260 is just bright enough so I would not go any lower than the 60watt LED. Wish they would release it with a 90 watt, I am tempted to get some q spot 560's which are much brighter but I am holding out a little longer to see if we get some killer new LED moving heads released in the next 6 months. Seems like LED's are getting brighter and brighter every day, so I am hoping to see some new things soon.
 
The best advice I can offer you from my limited experience with moving heads is to make sure whatever fixture you end up picking make sure it has electronic focusing. My fixture also lacks rotating prism, so make sure your fixture has both of those features.

I use blizzard polaris moving head and it has a manual focus and the gobos rotate but not the prism, my only 2 complaints.
 
you guys are awesome. Thank you for all the input. I will consider the 260, and hopefully if I have enough one day I will also purchase some 560s. Does anyone have experience with American DJ moving heads within the same price range?
