Speakers-2 Yamaha S115v Clubs. Assuming weight and price are not considerations, which amp and why-QSC RMX 2450 or PLX 1804?

I use for my S115V's either a PLX2 3602 or a Yamaha P7000. I have adequate headroom and never had a problem. If you don't want to use the 3602 I would suggest the the 3102 that allows you more versatility than the 1804.
The RMX 2450 is more versatile (The 1804 won't do 2 ohm), but it's more than twice the weight. Power is on the side of the 1804, but it's not enough of a difference to be of concern.
To answer your question, there is little difference in those amps driving those speakers. However, if you are buying new, the PLX1804 is EOL product and was replaced by the GX7. The RMX2450 is still a current model but using an old school toroidal power supply which weighs 3 times as much as the switching power supply in the GX7 and that difference shouldn't be ignored. The PLX3102 is an upgrade in quality (if you are ignoring costs) with the ignored weight being 1/2 of the RMX2450. The long term, full range 8 ohm power output of these 3 is so close you won't know the difference. If you are only going to drive these speakers and have no desire to run them bridged to drive subs or more powerful speakers then the GX7 would be a good choice if you weren't ignoring anything.
I have the RMX 2450 and it is a heafty amp.... it's a solid amp and you can't go wrong with it powering those tops.... I think a better amp would be the Yamaha 7000 as mentioned, you'd have the headroom you need and if I remember right the price point isn't much different.
I will take A GTD Amp proof is in the puddin I have witnessed two working within one rack one hot and the other cold as a icicle running strong powerful and bold.
Of the 2 choices it would be the rmx 2450. I usually by new, but I've seen some nice used PLX 3402's selling for a little over 500 bucks. That amp would be my choice for those tops.

The Crown info is OK for baseline information but may confuse people on amp selection. I have sent people to the QSC tool which is very simple and straightforward if you just want to know what amp works with what speaker. http://www.qscaudio.com/products/amps/advanced_amp_selector.htm
I wish everyone would go back 15 years and use real 20-20K Hz long term power rating numbers instead of the BS marketing crap most use now. 
Appreciate all the feedback everyone. I agree Scott on the power rating numbers. If you look at the 20-20Hz rating for either of these amps and anything else for that matter they're roughly 50 watts less that the "marketing rating". I've used the amp guides on both the Crown and QSC sites many times. Lot's of good easy to use information. Given the applications I have in mind for this set up I'm leaning towards the Yammies with an RMX 2450. Not too concerned about the weight, Looking more at the good reviews on both, tried and true real life use and built like tanks.

Since you have both and said the old school RMX's sound better, in what way(s)? Is it the newer "made in China" RMX that you are using in this comparison as this is what I'm considering since I'm buying new.

I think the 'myth' is that the older toroidal based power supply amps (the RMX, Macro-Techs. etc.) handle bass bins better as they have power in reserve based on their supply design. I say myth, as most current touring systems use switching power supplies (iTechs, Lab.gruppen, PowerSoft). I have seen no issues with my PLX2s that have switching power supplies in driving subs. They are considerable lighter to move and I would never go back to 50 pound beasts (though there is absolutely nothing wrong with them if you have them). The RMX 2450 is about the same power as the PLX2502 (which I picked up in used, mint condition for less than $500), but the 2502 is half the weight and has almost twice the damping factor, which helps control low end.
I can notice a difference in bass control with JBL SR4718X 18" woofer bins when powered by my RMX2450 vs a PLX3402. The bass is noticeable tighter........Also even tighter still with Crown Macro-Tech 2402. I can hear it.
Not looking for a dispute, anyone who's happy with a rail switcher is OK by me. I have this little thing about amps and equipment....some would say I can be a bit "Anal-Retentive".
There's SO many choices out there....make yours and enjoy!

My CV's hit harder with a bridged RMX4050HD than with the bridged PLX2 3602. But for weight reasons and people won't notice the difference as I will not be driving them so hard I use the PLX2 3602's.
