Hi Linda,

When do you get the error?

Sounds like your skin config got hosed -- that will happen if you shut down Windows before Rockit has closed, and updated it's config.

Go to our website (softjock.com), go to the downloads page, and scroll to the bottom.

You will find the Rockit Diagnostic program. Download it to your desktop, then open it. Click the button that says Reset Skin, then close it.

Rockit should then start ok with the default skin.

Hi Rick

when i click on the icon to start the programme, and just the message pops up and nothing else

Have done that and now opens up Thanking you but still can't make playlists
Also goes straight into the default skin but no other options

Sounds like the whole config file is hosed (or Rockit got moved to a different folder somehow), and is now pointing to the wrong folders for skins and playlists (Rockit sets all that on install).

You can try the diagnostics again, and do the Reset to Factory Config. That's going to require you to re-validate the software.

If all else fails, uninstall through Control Panel, and reinstall from scratch.

I had to do that on several occasions. But its been a good while since Ive had to. I havent had one bit of trouble in maybe 8-10 months. Once I talk to you, Rick this last time, about mapping my controller, I have it completely set up for Rockit. And works like a charm!!!

There's also another option on the diag program I wrote, if you ever run into trouble:

Run it, click Turn Rockit Logging On, then try and run Rockit. Then go back to the diag program, and click View Report. It will create a text file, and will tell you where that file is, and where to email it to me :)

That gives me all diagnostic info, config info, and full logging of the startup and shutdown of Rockit.

Everything looks basically like it should, but...

Also goes straight into the default skin but no other options

You turned off the option to show the Skin Browser on starup. Go to Config->General, and turn it back on and then click Save. Restart Rockit, and you should see the Skin Browser. You can also access the Skin Browser from that same screen. Everything on that config page requires a Save, and then Rockit restart.

Have done that and now opens up Thanking you but still can't make playlists

A lot of Rockit's functionality is in the context/pop up menus. You right click the mouse over a given area, and different menus will pop up, giving you all sorts of options.

There's a short tutorial here:

Hey Linda, welcome abroad... I mean aboard. ;)

Have a go at my custom Beatles skin for Rockit. My gift to all ODTJ members.

Don't worry Sarge, I have one of those little deflator thingys, that lets the air out of the tires, so you can get the Model T in the garage... ;)
