Dan: Don't take this is as personal attack, it is not.

I'm disappointed with this update.

1) The font is terrible. Georgia (with a Times New Roman backup) are difficult to read. There's a reason every other mainstream forum uses Verdana.
2) There is no consistency to the layout. There is stuff all over the place with different styles/colors/fonts. It looks like a MySpace.
3) Way to much extra stuff. For example, right now I can see "Share This Page" with links to Tweet/Google+/Facebook
4) I had to use the password recovery feature, which was a huge pain. The combination of not knowing which email address I used for this site, and the horrendous Captcha meant that I spent 20 minutes just trying to get a new password sent to me.
5) Too much signature/avatar real estate.
6) The new posts page: I really don't want to see avatars of the person that started the post. Frankly, I don't care and it wastes real estate.

Personally, if the layout stays like this I will visit the site less often. It's hard on my eyes. There's just too many distractions from the content.

Just my thoughts :)

Thanks Troy. This is just the kind of feedback I need.

  1. Fonts can be changed. I hadn't noticed, tbh. I'll add that to my list.
  2. The layout feels consistent to me. Different, yes. MySpaceish - didn't catch that feeling.
  3. The just the 'social junk'. I'm not a fan of it either but I'm hoping it will encourage sharing and draw in more people.
  4. You can use your login name instead of email address. I'll change the phrase to "Username" so it's more familiar. The catchpa should be a standard reCatchpa but I will take a look
  5. Members are able to disable viewing signatures (link). I'll be disabling them to guests shortly
  6. Xenforo is more member centric. Showing the avatar serves that purpose, also if you have replied to thread it will show your avatar.

hehe. It will take some getting used to but I think we've got a great system here. :)

Fonts I'll work on later, I've got a client shortly and CSS requires some sort of concentration.

Edit:

Font changed for everything except message body. Looking for what property controls that.

Dan, maybe I'm blind but I can't find anywhere you can click for newest post or latest post. Is there such a feature? Thanks

Why do you and Fred always say "thanks"... :D

That always reminds me of folks on the news, saying "thank you for having me here Anderson".

"Your welcome", is the proper term to use. You don't thank them back. They asked for your input. The media has totally distorted the use of proper terminology, and people are picking up on it. Wrong semantics -- where the Hell is Bryan when I need him...? ;)

Don't mind me, I'm still testing, but had to run a philosophical/semantic rant in the process... :)

Damn, got the same on results on two smilies -- that needs some work...

If you are going to talk proper terminology you should try using correct grammar. It's "You're welcome" not "Your welcome" Now how do I get this smiley face thing working :)

I think it's the beer in the blue bottle, that caused that glitch on my part... :D

I told you .. it's evil.

Dan, I LIKE it! Looks different from the "other" chat boards. I still miss the red though. ;)

what!!!!!!"??????? There isn’t yet an arcade available for XenForo. An arcade is under development. As soon as it’s available and has been tested the arcade will be back.... THIS is number 1!
