I just bought 2 speaker stands for the powered speakers I just bought. Where can I get skirts to go around the bottom so the setup will look very professional?

Don't do it, unless you want them to look like the Wicked Witch's of the West... :sqerr:

BTW, why do you post DJ/Gear questions in the Front Desk? There are forums on this board for particular things... ;)

In my opinion skirts do NOT look professional. They become very conspicuous. Run your cables down the length of the poles and along the legs and use black velcro straps to hold them in place. Do not spiral the cables around the poles, Those look ugly too! Then again, thats just my opinion and the focus is on my sound and not the looks of the equipment. You can also use pole mounts on top of your subs which eliminates the need for stands

I have never had one complaint about my setup without them. I did get asked for skrims on one occasion. I got a set from a friend and satisfied my client. I wont buy them until a. I get a comment about appearance and b.requested on a regular basis. My system is relatively small and non obtrusive. Perhaps it is just fine looking like DJ gear when presented properly.

Exactly Jon.....they're not required; it's no different if you choose to use a facade or light that facade. An opinion is fine, I like the look....: it's comments like "Yuck...I do not think those look "professional" at all " speaks to the professionalism of those who make them.....

Personally, I don't care for skirts either, but my opinion means nothing in this setting. What counts is "How does the client perceive it?" In my meetings, I specifically point out that we tape our cables and skirt our stand legs for one reason, I see that it registers with the client and that helps me sell dates. Same goes for planners. They eat that stuff up. Think like a girl, boys. It'll put money in your pocket.

We've always felt they were tacky and screamed "look at me!" We prefer to have the cables tied with velcro and make it look like there's nothing connecting the speaker. Also any extra length of cable is either kept coiled under the table or is in a nice coil under the tripod.

I'm still not sure about them, however you guys may get requests for them so maybe have them just in case.

Looks like I am the odd man out here lol. We do a lot of weddings, and I up sell as much as possible. Meaning lighting :) While I do not charge extra for our lighted Facade WITH speaker stand skirts, I use this in conjunction with the lighting we charge more for. Believe me when I say the women all rave on how it looks, "OMG where were you when I got married" etc. It has booked us word of mouth events just on the sights alone from it. Again, to each his own, but it has worked wonderful for us in the wedding market. I use them on my speakers, up light my facade and color match the brides colors until dance time, then use them as an added factor to achieve the club feel on the dance floor. My two cents;)

I think lighting the facade and even color matching the bride is great, but that is because there is already visual attention to the guy/gal behind the desk, so play it up. Skirting the speakers/lighting posts just seems to draw attention to something that's normally colored black for a reason .. to blend into the background.

I enclosed a small pic on my avatar of a tiny Christmas party. Not much room to spread out unfortunately and their stinking coat closet was behind us! lol, but such is the life of a DJ and being crammed into a space. But it displays a simple Facade and speaker skrims. Lots of compliments non the less
