School & Teen Events Any thoughts on these? I found another potential speaker system for me.

It is good but it is NOT inexpensive. Who is going to do the rigging? That is not a system for amateurs so I hope you have training in Rigging, Fly Points etc. It also looks like one side. Is the whole system going to be doubled or are you going to split the components to two sides?

Canute's right, it's a nice rig and not inexpensive. For what many schools are willing to pay DJs, a lot of school dances would have to be booked for it to show a ROI. ;)

From what I can gather this system is designed for installs, not portability. Man, I don't think I'd want to load and set up, then strike and load out a rig of this size unless I had road help and a sizeable paycheck.

How do you figure Not inexpensive? for half the price of one JBL line array i can get 6 line arrays 2 subs. rigging equipment, and all the amps and necessary signal processing.

I already have a rigger on staff and all of my roadies are trained (Not certified) in basic rigging techniques as i use a rigger for EVERY event even with floor trussing to ensure that everything is safe. transportation isnt a problem either. and i could pay for one of these in 2 gigs with my current system and until i get another gig or 2, i could split it 3 line arrays and 1 sub per side.

Im interested in weather or not you think it would sound good.

Do you realize that all but 1 high school in a 20 mile radius of my house is already paying boom entertainment $30,000 - $60,000 per dance? boom brings a very similar setup to the one i just showed but bigger on each side plus about 2-4 floor subs. Im trying to put on a semi comparable show for half or less than what they are paying boom. as most of the schools ive talked to, LOVE the show, but HATE the price tag. Hence why i need a system like this. boom bring around 20 of the JBL line arrays and then some. So im looking for something that looks impressive and sounds great!

Like i said. ALL of my roadies are trained in the basics of rigging like the types of chains, knots, and basic protocol as the rigger cant have his eyes everywhere. (it only takes 1 bad knot for the whole thing to come down.) AND i have a certified rigger and a structural engineer. I learned alot from my ceiling trussing thread. and have taken all the necessary steps for safety.

It also looks like one side. Is the whole system going to be doubled or are you going to split the components to two sides?

You are correct it is just one side. If i get one, temporarily the parts will be split 3 line arrays and 1 sub each side, but in the end i will have 2 of these, possibly 4 of these.

news to my ears,i didn't know schools paid $30-$60,000 per dance in any state.
Thats about $30-$35K per side by my estimate ( I did not check prices). Do you even have at least one of those $30.K contracts to start?

There are other options you can utilize without having to do rigging. There are stands that can go up 10' in the air. High enough to project sound with the right speakers for tops.

to what are you refering? 30 to 35k per side? what would cost that much? boom's setup?

Nope and i dont want one. I couldnt in good concience ask a school for that rediculous ammount of money. the most i want to ask if $15000 - $18,000 MAX.
Id rather see them put that extra money towards books and stuff for their students...

but why go through all that when i already fly lighting. it wouldnt be worth the extra work to put up stands when i could just add them to the list of stuff to be flown. I want to be able to compete with boom for a smaller price tag and putting speakers on stands just wont cut it. have you seen boom's gigs? they are more like concerts...

Id rather see them put that extra money towards books and stuff for their students... If others are getting that amount it may be because there is a budget for it, it is worth it, the cost is there to justify it or they are just plain good salesmen. If you got that kind of money and felt it is too much you could donate the books yourself. Or send the money to some of the newbies on here so they could buy good gear. Then again, this might be a hobby to you, an expensive hobby!

They also cost a lot and so too are the hired help to construct them at events.

From what I can see, this is all professional Production well worth every penny. Even the Website is well prepared. I say that is true worth. There are a lot of hours before and after put into those type of events. It takes pros who know what they are doing to pull it off safely. Even the roadies on a production like that would make much more than some so called DJs.
You should be aspiring to do better and thus charge more money. Can you imagine the Insurance costs alone for such a production? It is not going to be the measly $200.00 per year that some DJs pay. That company is treating what they do as a business and don't need low ballers coming in cutting corners for lower fees. I don't mean to offend you but if the shoe fits then wear it. By now you should realize that I don't mince words.

you do realize that for the $1600 you are buying 6 line arrays and 2 subs poweramps and processor in one purchase right? the 1600 is for the complete set, everything you see in the pic i posted above... not just one array.

Boom doesnt even own that stuff its all rented. i looked into how much it would cost to rent and have it all done just like boom and at max it costs 15,000 for one of their setups. Mr. Neuhauser pockets 15000 to 30000 per gig. i think its rediculous.

Is that One Thousand & Six Hundred Dollars or Sixteen Thousand Dollars? Either way, does that include the amps, cabling harness etc?

BTW That is one DJ who would not be pushed into a corner! LOL Seeing all that truss and Lighting hanging from the ceiling at a Wedding must make some of these Wedding DJs grimace in pain. Hahahahahahaha
Small footprint my azz!!!!!!! Why reach for an iron ring when you can grab for Gold!

You may want to recheck... I followed your link and it reads like $1600 is for just 1 element and not 6 elements, 2 subs, amps and processing.

I have insurance for such a show. i have a $4 million policy that supports exactly what they do.

That company is treating what they do as a business and don't need low ballers coming in cutting corners for lower fees.

First of all, I NEVER cut corners. Safety is always my number 1 concern and the inevitable outcome of a cut corner is usually always a safety problem. I will be the first to admit that my shows are not to the size or scale of booms shows. and do you realize that "That company" is 1 person namely Jordan Neuhauser, who is nothing more that a mere booking agent and that all the work is sub contracted. In many cases thay have no clue what they are doing. every dance was terribly mastered with ear schreeching treb distortion and overpowering bass. their light shows, while gigantic, were never complex beyond the moving heads roving around slowly. In my opinion, and the opinion of every student i know at my high school (Which was a boom school) it gets old... it gets boring... and its overrated. And most of the administrators agree.

I don't mean to offend you but if the shoe fits then wear it. By now you should realize that I don't mince words.

None taken I understand where you are coming from completely.
