Ok, Tigger, you are my guy and all.... but the whole statement about the GUI being built around the hardware went out the window when they started using Intel chips/Motherboards. They design for hardware just as much as Microsoft. LESS actually, because MS has to account for video cards, something that Macs can't even use. But you're right that macs write the GUI around the ONE video card they use.
So that MYTH that Macs are superior in all things audio and video is complete hogwash. There is no way that any mac is going to outdo my dual Radeon HD 5870's, and any sound card a mac can get, a PC can get, so there goes that one too. After you debunk that one, everyone says "it's not the hardware, its how the OS handles it" and I say phooey. Yes, phooey. Maybe 10-15 years ago, sure. But now that they are using the same processors, Windows has the edge. I am not even sure you can use the 6 and 8-core processors on the Mac, can you? Beyond that, you can't use AMD processors on a Mac, so that takes out a whole range of processors that only a PC can use. And don't go all "Mac Pro" on me, we are not talking Servers, but Personal Computers.
Don't get me wrong, I don't HATE Macs at all. I just hate the silly myths and the whole "Mac is superior" thing. I am not a Windows fanboy either, I prefer Ubuntu actually. Hell, even Chromium if I had a netbook! But it's the whole superiority complex that really bothers me. It's the same reason I defend Denon to the Pio-Heads when they claim that CDJ's are so vastly superior to the DN-S series, yet they can never come up with any actual reasons WHY. Same with Virtual DJ.... I have been having to defend THAT a lot lately since DJing is going into the controller realm really heavily now. Everyone is still so stuck on Serato that they automatically start hating on VDJ, yet they can never come up with an actual reason why Serato is better. I can come up with at least 5 reasons why VDJ beats the pants off SSL, but that's another debate

Anyway, like I said.... I don't deny that Macs are nice. They look nice, but so can a PC. They are stable, but so is Windows (mine has yet to have any problems... Win7 x64). They are efficent, but so is a PC.
Really, a Mac is actually just a PC that can't upgrade really easily (or at all in the case of video), with a different OS. Parts is parts is parts.
If Ubuntu could run most of my games and programs I would switch to that in a second, but alas... tis not to be. And don't say that Mac OSX is just like it, because it isn't. I have it on my USB drive just to boot into it from time to time, but in order for me to use it as my main OS it needs to be able to do what I need it to do audio-wise. I always check and see if they have any new audio editing software, but so far the best I have seen is Audacity.... which is great, but I need something more professional, as well as a Multi-Track recorder. I would also need FL Studio, or a program JUST like it lol.
Dang.... look at me rambling again. You guys ever notice how LONG my posts are when I talk about a specific subject? It's like I have to describe every aspect of my opinion. I don't know why I do this whole rambling on thing.
