AT&T?

What's going on with AT&T these days? AT&T to Cingular, Cingular back to AT&T? Was it some kind of publicity stunt?

I had AT&T before they changed to Cingular. I found that it worked in only half of the places that my Verizon phone did, so I figured, if I wanted coverage like that, I might as well switch to Nextel, so I did. Now I have both Verizon and Nextel but since the iPhone is coming out, I am considering either cancelling my nextel or verizon, only if the AT&T network is better than it used to be. Is it?

Sometimes I turn that show on and just start laughing hysterically. He's a pretty funny guy. I actually got to meet him at a charity dinner my school sent me too. Have you ever hear his speech from the White House Correspondent's dinner? I'll post a link if I can find one.

The long and short of it is this:

When the "merger" occurred in 2003, the marketing departments felt it would be best to use the Cingular name as opposed to the AT&T name. They migrated the networks together went on their merry way.

Fast forward a couple of years. They realized that people identified more with the AT&T brand than with the Cingular brand, so they switched. It did not have any effect on the network at all. Unless they actually put up new towers or opened up more bandwith in your area, the service will be the same.
 
having used every possibility to a Western Canadian with cell phones I finally settled with Rogers which had all the best of the best. Suddenly as of late when I answer the inbounds I get a harsh squal upon hitting recieve.

They dropped the car/name Taurus & replaced it with the "500".... Now they announced that they are dropping the name "500" & going to call it "Taurus",

Sales were meek on the "500" & the thinktanks at Ford claimed they are going back to the name "Taurus" because it was one of the most successful models in Ford history.

Yeah right!

If it was so great, why did they change it in the first place?

Why not call the "500" the "Model T"?
It was successful too ...in it's day.
 
When Nextel and Sprint merged last year, my friend had a Nextel phone and got screwed over, they extended his contract, and lost his phone insurance policy, shortly after, he dropped his phone in a poll and had to pay for a new phone out of pocket.

I think he wound up going my route he got a cheap prepaid phone and uses the caller ID to call people back.

I'm happy with my tracfone, it will connect to any tower, calls can cost any where between $.10 to $.75 per minute depending on where you are and how many units you buy at one time.

I never use the phone, it's most for emergencies or World Wide Nagging (mom) and if someone calls me late at night, they ring my cell, I look at the CID and call them back from my house phone (free Long distance).

And they changed the name of the Windstar to the Freestar, which sounded too close to the Freestyle. Ford dropped the Freestar from the 2007 lineup because it wasn't selling and doesn't plan on introducing another minivan to their product line until 2010. Can you say Windstar? Or maybe Aerostar (for those of you who remember)?
 
Ford's resurrection of the "500" logo was doomed from the start. To many people who remember the Galaxie 500 line, this was just too much. :D

Resurrection of the Crown Victoria name fared a little better. Most of the people who could have remembered that logo are no longer with us.

Perhaps Ford's next logo resurrection will be the Edsel? :D
 
Yeah... Ford's reincarnation of the '55 T-Bird went over like a fart in church. It was a copycat measure... based upon Chrysler's PT Cruiser success.

Ford's recent reincarnation of the fastback Rustang has met with limited success. Again, a copycat measure from VW's new Beetle. People aren't buying reincarnations of cars that were pieces of crap in their original versions.

Ford has always been a high maintenance brand. Everyone knows this. They nickel and dime you to death. Doesn't matter how many horses it has under the hood nor how pretty it looks ~ it's still a Ford. :D

I am glad this option works for you Dan, but I would venture to say a majority of people would go broke using a prepaid. I use between 2500-3000 minutes a month, so even at 10 cents a minute, well, you do the math, lol.

I cannot stand phones. When I do have to use the phone, the conversation is like this:

Me: Hey, how you doin'
Callee: Good, what's up?
Me: Nothin', want company?
Callee: Yup
Me: See ya in 10 minutes

I don't think I rack up 2000 minutes in an entire year much less a month. :eek:
