I would also suggest a was light like the colorstrip...
plus an effect light or two.
unless they don't want "flashy"...
then I would stick to the wash light, plus a water effect and a mirror ball effect

even though you are not planning on continuing to do lights when this is done...
doesn't the extra $500 kind of explain why so many of us DO offer ligting?
I am agreeing to do this to save my Entertainment Agency's azz. They promised so now I have to deliver. I never say "No" to my entertainment Agency. It is their Client who have used me before. Last time they paid me $100.00 extra to use a microphone before dinner. I let them use it all night! LOL
I am sure there are a lot who don't get $500.00 to do the DJ Gig let alone an extra $500.00 for lights.

I don't do lights because I have a buddy that does them and he comes along with me for a separate fee to the client. This coming December I have a very important Corporate Client sent to me by the Entertainment Agency that is requesting a small lighting show. My buddy is already booked on this particular night so I want to buy about 6-8 lights for my use. My buddy will get them afterwards to use.
What are some of the most popular "must haves" that you all use. As much as I hate doing this (The lighting part) I can't turn down the gig. The client has requested my services before and was very pleased. The Entertainment Agency is negotiating an extra $500.00 just for the small light show.

This function will be a Corporate Christmas Party at the Hyatt Regency downtown for about 250 people. I would like the lights to be sound activated and DMX compatible if possible.

I'd find some used T Rex's and hold on to them if you need them down the road. Very good simple performer. Definitely sound active but no DMX.

Trex and Raptor are pretty decent for sound actives and can be slapped onto a speaker stand if need be for room ambience in a pinch. I love my acrobats cause I can use them sound active though I at minimum use my MC-1 to control it most often.

If I'm correct, the Acrobat's are a good choice too.

I have 12 feet of box truss, and crank stands. The show is 4 Martin MX-4's, a Martin EFX 800 in the center and 4 colorstrips, all under DMX control. When they pay for a good lightshow, they love it. I'd like to pick up a Wizard Extreme sometime. This takes time to set up, but wows the crowd nicely!

Best,

Paul

I'll say it again, buy good lights once. Crap with a duty cycle isn't worth it.

I spoke to the Corporate Client and she stated that they do not want any bright flashing lights. I was originally thinking of adding a Jellydome but she looked it up on the internet and nixed that idea. I have a feeling that washes with color changes may be the way to go. Would this work? http://www.elationlighting.com/ProductDetails.aspx?Category=&ItemNumber=1647 Thoughts???

What would the equivalent of the above fixture be from Chauvet and ADJ?

The List Is Just About Ready

I am just about ready to pull the trigger on the first phase of my 1st lighting Rig. This phase will be Controller operated for small events and Karaoke. The Second phase will be software operated with Moving Heads etc. for larger shows.

Ones highlighted in red are my first pics.

Not everything would be used at one time or at one show. I'll install fixtures as needed. If there is anything that has been used before that has been problematic I would like to know. If there is redundancy between units, also please let me know. Thanks

Darkside, here I come.

hmm how can you call it the darkside? You were always in the dark before but now see the light which isnt dark at all.

Simple, we're behind the scenes (Bright lights) making the people go nuts with the light show and music so that's where the dark side comes in :D:D:D:D:D
