I took a Colorstrip with me to light up my stage this weekend. Before I got there, I thought I would just use it on a slow color fade and then switch it to sound active for the dancing but... They had an interesting color so I decided to match it. R-0 / G-50 / B-80 were the final numbers I believe... I liked it so much that I just left it that color all night long. The venue would have looked sooooo much better with matching uplighting but they didn't want to go for it. :( LED's rock in that you can simply match up the color onsite with a few button clicks.

I feel your pain. I am wanting to get more into uplighting, but I can't justify the cost for what venues are willing to pay in the area. There are a couple that it would be awesome at, but neither the venue or the customers are willing to spring for the extra bucks..... If I could get one or two to go for it, Ben would be a very happy man with an order, but just can't get them to bite.
 
I don't see why everyone doesn't add uplighting.....

For those of you doing it - are you leaving them a solid color? or dmx-ing them so they move to music? Both? If you don't mind us asking, what does the pricing look like? I assume these are all led. I use the Rain 64's from Chauvet.
 
Excellent display of color. The rooms come alive when the color is put to them. Can you ever have too many uplights?

Same question as above: Static color only. DMX or stand alone?
 
The biggest mistake being made by DJs who do uplighting is to charge PER fixture. Just give them a price to transform the room like pictured in the photos above. Wouldn't it be nice to get $995.00 to uplight a venue like that? I believe it IS possible and that IS what I'm shooting for.

Wish I didn't have all these decorators ruining it in my area, charging peanuts for ugly power hungry incandescent par-cans mounted on bare pieces of wood, plugged in with coiled orange extension cords...

Not wanting to be critical.....your work is amazing...... But the logo seems a little.....I don't know...... not serious... I know it doesn't sound right, but it would seem to me anyway, that you would like to promote the elagence and prestige of what you do for your clients.
 
Here's a rough idea I have for a logo for my up lighting... I did this in MS Paint so the text isn't as clean as it could be but... I like it so far... I'll do some work in photoshop on my other computer later to refine it.... but, the layout looks good to me.

I liken using a regular light bulb in a logo to a DJ using a forty five adapter in their logo or a cassette as their artwork in their logo layout and design.
