Hi,

I've got a 12v powered portable soundsystem and I'm thinking of adding some lights (outdoor use). The thing is, I'm finding it really difficult to source anything useful.

One option is to use one of those cheap mini red/green cluster lasers - I think there are 12v and 5v versions, although I have no idea how they'll react to a 10.8-12.7v power supply. I'm probably gonna give it ago anyway :D Other options are battery powered rope lights for wash effects, although again this is proving more difficult to source than I first thought.

Any suggestions?

Aircraft landing lamps are 12v, and as such, most "pin spots". They are heavy because they put a transformer in there to make them work on 120v. Use just the bulb in the pinspot can. They are small, will be light weight, and you can run a few of them off a chaser... old school somewhat...but it'll work.

You want to use something like this:
