How to lubricate laptop DC jack?

When I connect the DC jack to my Lenovo laptop, it does not feel smooth. Is there a way I can lubricate this? I have heard that quite often these jacks end up breaking and need to be replaced so I would like to try some preventive maintenance. One of my Gateway DJ laptops is currently in for a $120.00 hinge replacement...

Whoa! I think you want to clean it. You sure don't want to lubricate anything electrical! That said, I have never had to clean a power connector. Did something spill on it?

ther is a di-electric gel you can buy at Canadian tire; I use it on my lights plugs for the trailer and on my SUV....

You can use a q tip with some rubbing alcohol. It will clean it and evaporate.

Just be careful with anything around electric connections. It could be a shocking experience.

I would look at it very closely with a bright light and a magnifying glass to see what is causing the excess friction. Maybe the power connector is breaking loose from the board and you have a bigger problem that needs to be fixed. If it is just foreign sticky matter on the plug or socket then Houston's contact cleaner would be the way to go. Save the di-electric gel for protecting large outdoor connectors that have corrosion problems. You do not want that gooey stuff on your computer, it will only attract & hold dirt and other items that will cause more problems.

I would not submit that equipment to shade tree advice.

We have thousands of Lenovo laptops at my day job and have never had one with a sticky power jack connection. That is why I suggested either a foreign substance came in contact with the plug or socket, or something is bent in either the plug or socket.
