I was walking out of Wal mart about an hour ago and my cell rang. It was a bride who told me she was in a bind trying to find a DJ for April 9th. Apparently the DJ she had hired had a house fire and lost everything.

I asked who but didn't recognize the name.

I gave her a quote, knocked off $50 to help out.

The venue she is using is a weird set up. It has the dining room on one end, the kitchen in the middle and the dance area on the other end. So I also offered to bring in my compact so they could have some dinner music and the Mic if they needed it. They have a house mic so not sure if they would want that.

She said she would get back to me. I think I was a bit out of her price by the way she sounded after the quote.

Hopefully she can find someone or maybe she will call back.

I would hope insurance would cover his loss but it would be hard to get everything ready, especially music, in 3 weeks.

Dang, that's hard to hear.

Just another reason (for digital DJ's) why it's critical to not only have one backup, but to have MORE than one in SEPARATE locations.

Also, if you're still a CD based jock, making a backup is a real PIA...just another reason to go digital...

that's way networking with local DJs is so important...... being able to call Randy or Alan or whoever and have a whole system the same day is one of the reasons why we network......

No man is an island. Some just live on them.

I don't understand why you knocked $50 off?

What is that DJ doing to make good on it?
I feel bad that his house burnt down, but if he's in business, I hope he has some type of insurance coverage and belongs to a DJ networking association in order to handle his upcoming clients.

It is called being nice. I know a lot of DJs would charge more for this, I am not like that.

It is a moot point anyways. She never called back. So even knocking off $50, I was too expensive.

I'm surprised that the bride is calling around trying to find a replacement DJ. What did the DJ tell her? ....Sorry Charlie?
Were contracts used?

It should be the DJ's responsibility to try & locate someone if he can't cover it. This situation doesn't sound right. Sounds fishy to me.

I agree that the DJ should get this covered but I won't pry into details unless they offer it up.

I would have loved to pick this up. It is April 9th. I have it open and would love to be able to use the new Bose.

maybe the Dj lost the details on every event

so unless its all lost who knows
keep watching news for more!
