I love my Dj software and all Pc Dj Dex but I have an issue. The problem is I made a merengue mix mp3 format and it will play in my software and all but it wont play via I Tunes,Windows Media Player.etc.So I called Tech Support and they said to convert to mp3 format using a converter and I did that but its failed. Its just weird the only way I can hear the mix is through Google Chrome or through my Dj Software.Any help would be greatly appreciated.Thanks.

I think it may be a Codec problem.

Sounds like it might not actually be in MP3 format...

I don't have a copy of DEX in front of me, but is there anything in the docs that tells you what the output format actually is?

For example, it might have recorded to WAV format, yet named it .MP3

If it's not too big, you could email it to me, and I could look at the file headers, and see if I can figure out what format it actually is...

The Codec is what allows the programs to open and play the file, however I'll wait for Rick (Softjock) or Rob to chime in about this and then see what the best source is to get the appropriate codecs.

I often wonder why you guys mess with ITunes. Amazon is where I buy any music that I can't get from my other sources. Doesn't ITunes do something to your downloads and puts it in some kind of folder or something? I have NEVER used itunes. Many have had issues with it before.

In some program the answer would be yes, but like I said, listen to Rick he's DA Bomb with these things ;)

Here's an easy test...

Most programs record to WAV/RIFF output. If you named it .mp3, then the decoder will try to decode an MP3.

WAV files are roughly 10 MB per minute, MP3 are roughly 1 MB (depending on bitrate used). So, if you have a 10 minute mix, and it's around 100 MB, then it's probably a WAV file, and try renaming it .wav, and see if it plays...

There are options in which way to record your mix but I picked mp3 format
I dont mind e mailing it to you at this point I just need a solution.I did try converting it to mp3 and it failed.

How big is the file?

I will send it to my brother eldjdelcaribe from here to see what he can do will keep u updated.

BTW, before you go sending it around, try making a copy of it, and renaming the copy whatevermix.wav. Then see if WMP will play it.

Most email servers will not allow an almost 200 MB attachment these days...

Thanks for all your input and quick responses I sent it to my Dj brother eldjdelcaribe and he came to the conclusion that the file was corrupted. Thanks again everybody
