Does anyone know how our ZXa5 compares to the new ELX115, both by EV

The ELX has wood as opposed to the plastic on the ZXa5.

Really not at all in the same category of loudspeaker. The ELX is a great speaker for it's price point, but there's a reason the ZXa5 is $1,000 more.

By the way, special ELX pricing is still good today by a stroke of pure luck. It was supposed to expire Friday, but I'm told we can sneak a few more onto the PO. ;)

Ben I can remember when that would have been a long drive for you.

Back in the 60's - 70's I used to take blown speakers back to Buchanan Mi. and exchange them for new. They never ask how it blew just gave me new.

Customer service is a strange animal... if you can find a place that gives you the same service when buying Gaffers Tape as when buy high end speakers,,, keep 'em....

But then,,,, that is the way to tell if ya have a good place or not, if they go outa their way for the small stuff and take care of you, when time comes for the big stuff, you will want to give them that business also.....

I have come to the conclusion that GC doesn't hire knowledgeable (intelligent) "sales people". They seem to hire musicians who want to take a shot at being a a sales person and love the idea of it being related to their dream of becoming a rock star. While an improperly motivated "sales person" might purposefully steer you toward the wrong gear to make a sale or a larger sale. It seems that some of the people at GC sell people the wrong gear because they aren't really aware what the customer needs, aren't intelligent enough to understand the gear and sell them what they would buy in that situation.

I use Sam Ash here, but mostly for smaller purchases that i need quick. Here our Guitar Center and Sam Ash are next to each other, when you visit one, you visit the other to bargain shop. I've never made a purchase at Guitar Center, it doesn't seem anyone in there actually knows how to do anything BUT play the guitar. We actually do gigs for the guys that work at Sam Ash and they know our company well. Walking in there is like going to a club VIP, they practically fight be the ones to help us , it's awesome. We usually walk out with something , but these days it's just the small stuff, anything we can wait for we can find cheaper online or with NLFX :) Ben really is the man, definitely call NLFX! :triwink:
