you should not be having these problems with a mac. how old is the mac? i would recommend for any DJ is the mac book pro. Sorry but i use both PC (my boss' comps for karaoke) and my own mac for everything else... my mac has never had an issue, its built and designed for video audio production but the PCs crash often and usually in the middle of video transition... if you are having probs with mac contact apple support they will help you

As stated previously, I also use both platforms.

MAC IS NOT proprietary... its an open source programing system just like lynux get your facts straight on that one... when you buy the OS you own the os compared to windows where you lease the rights to use the OS system.ask Bill Gates he got away with stealing mac OS when he started Windows

Mac's not propietary? So you can use ANY software and hardware on a mac? This is great news!

=)

my Apple will out perform in Audio and Video, a comparable Windows machine any day, any time.

This is where we disagree...

For the same price as an Apple, I can get a Windows machine that will blow it away in both audio and video :)

BTW, my Mac is set to dual boot into either OSX or Vista. At least I can use it if I had to...

To clarify, it is open source so you can write your own stuff for it. Bill Gates didn't get away with stealing the Mac OS.

Some known information..

1. Apple's gui (graphical user interface) system is done in hardware while windows gui is done in software. When the apple II came out in 1977 it already had graphics built in. The system booted into it and didn't have to wait and run the software.

2. Even though microsoft started in 1975, bill gates never worked with apple. Micro-soft bought 86-DOS or Q-DOS which was owned by seattle computer products and was written by its employee tim paterson. This became micro-soft DOS or MS-DOS. back then it did not have a windows gui.

3. In august 1985 microsoft partnered with ibm to create the os/2 gui operating system for ibm machines. The partnership broke down and in november of 1985 microsoft introduced windows 1.0 which was just a software gui extension to DOS.

4. If you think apple started the original idea of windows and mice you will be wrong too. Xerox Palo Alto used a 3 button mouse on a windowing system in 1973.

I personally have not tried to dual boot (parallels) into Windows on my Mac. I don't think Windows would work too well on it.

For a lesser price, I have a Windows machine to run Windows!

If I have a Mac and get a Bose, would that cause a catastrophe?

Not sure... But there's a good chance that when you wake up the next morning, there might be sequins on your man purse... yorofl:
