need help in choosing a pair of single 15inch speakers

ok i need help in choosing a pair of single 15inch speakers..they would only be used for small gigs.i have always used peavey speakers and have not had any problems with my sp4s but they are too much for small gigs..so i am open to others..what are you guys using pros and cons? my budget is 800 to a grand...

Whats the matter, you don't have a volume control?
Is it because of space that you need something smaller? If you buy a smaller cabinet and continue using a speaker stand, then you are using up the same space.
 
Do you want active or passive?

it is space and weight i want to lighting up the load.. i do need something smaller
 
Other 15" speakers aren't going to be all that much smaller than your SP4s--however, you can go lighter. You may want to consider the Peavey PR15s--poly cabinet and neo magnet on the 15" BW make them a lot lighter than the SP series. I have a few Peavey Impulse 1015s and they weigh 56 lbs each with the poly cabinet, but they still use a conventional magnet on the 15" BW--the PRs will be even lighter.

i was looking at the pr15s but a lot of bad reviews on them..do they use the black widow on the pr15s?
 
This is a great speaker! Its made well has a great frequency response and its not plastic. I own a pair. This is by far the best line of speakers Behringer makes.

I'm an EV fan, but I also have a set of PR15s ( 12's too, for that matter). The combination of sound, light weight, durability, load handling ability ( Their specs are actually clear and accurate, where so many other mfrs. are not) and good pricing make them almost unbeatable for small venue use.

Since I used to own an electronic component distributorship, and I sold them their parts, I can also tell you that they are built with better quality components then most speakers costing a LOT more.

You already like your current Peaveys, so why not stick with 'em?
 
The sp2 is a great speaker I actually ownwd a pair of SP3 whih is a tremendous speaker but their mid range molded speakers are not great sounding. Their new impulse 12D is a wonderful sounding molded speaker though they should make a passive version.

i love my sp4s...but would like a pair of single 15s

so do you have the Impulse 1015? if so how does it sound ?
