Thinking a picking a pair of these up

Get a sub! Dual 15's are not a sub-stitute. They have punchy upper bass, but do not get low enough to pump the jam.

Scott

You are still going to require a sub for that extra bump.

What they said!
I have a pair of JBL JRX 125s and they DO NOT have the deep bass. They are similar to the ones you are looking to buy. The Peaveys will even sound more flat/full range than the JBLs. Get a Sub, a good one. If you want to go inexpensive try a B52.

Ok, let me phrase it this way:

I already have a sub and am planning on trying to get it to work somehow. It is a Peavey as well.

I am planning on using ALL the speakers mentioned in these two threads. The sub, the dual 15s and the powered 15s.

So, had anyone used these dual's and if so, how did you like them?

Patrick,
Tell us how you are hooking up the sub and maybe that will shed some light on why it is not working properly. I have a solution that may cost you about $130.00 and make your existing system sound even more dynamic but first your answer please.

1. Original source is out of our computer running into channel one on the board.

2. This source is then run out of the Main output on the board, which is split by 1/4 inch Y connectors. One split signal runs to the powered speakers (which work fine) and the other runs into the sub amp.

3. We run the signal coming into the sub amp out to the sub using the regular banana clip to 1/4 XLR connector on the sub

4. We then run the wireless mic outputs from the amp into the board (channels 2 and 3) and out to the powered speakers.

We are getting complete output (mics and music) to the powered speakers out of the board, but getting nothing to the sub out of the amp.

I know it is not the output on the amp because we hooked up just a regular pair of book shelf speakers eric had lying around to it and it worked fine with them. For some reason, there is no signal going to the sub.

I read your other post.........has that sub ever worked? Maybe it was DOA?

I have heard stories of people purchasing new subs/speakers where the connections have came lose or not connected at all, might be worth checking the wiring inside.

1. Original source is out of our computer running into channel one on the board. What Board is this? Is it a Stereo input with stereo output?

2. This source is then run out of the Main output on the board, Is this a stereo output or switched mono? which is split by 1/4 inch Y connectors. Is this a pair or one Y connector? One split signal runs to the powered speakers (which work fine) and the other runs into the sub amp.

3. We run the signal coming into the sub amp out to the sub using the regular banana clip to 1/4 XLR connector on the sub You are sending full range to a sub amp. Sub amps perform better with dedicated sub signals, that is the signal you want to amplify. How and where are you summing the bass signals for your one sub?

4. We then run the wireless mic outputs from the amp into the board (channels 2 and 3) and out to the powered speakers.

See above highlighted questions. Get a Multimeter and test your sub. Every DJ should have one. They are not expensive.

Me thinks Patrick needs a crossover; that would solve all of your issues.....

I think so too! That is why I suggested the solution that may cost $130.00.
He can use the Powered speakers as Full Range mains and the ones he wants to buy as Mid & Highs (They do sound good as Mid/Highs) and then sum his bass but he should get another sub eventually before they discontinue them.

OK, sorry for being an idiot here, but I do not see how I could hook a crossover up with what I have. Every crossover I see has XLR inputs and outputs, but neither the amp nor the mixer has any form of XLR inputs or outputs.

What am I missing here?

I was looking at the one you had mentioned, and it only has XLR's.

We are still just looking right now. We have a wedding this weekend that is very small (only 50 people) so we don't need it for that one, but we have one on the 18th that is large and we need to have the stuff in, tested and ready by then, so still not 100% sure what direction we are going to go in.
