Rick, I just figured out what happened the other night when Rockit 5 shut down on me. Its caused by the Text Output. When I click on it to turn it on, it shuts down on me. Thats the only thing that causes it to shut down. Is there some way I can fix that? If I click on anything on the properties window of the text, it shuts down.

What OS are you using, so I can try and duplicate...?

Well, when I finally got it open and to stay up, I looked at where the location area is at the bottom of the text properties, it said C:Softjock/RockitProDJ50trial/RockitText.bmp. Well, I took the "trial" out, and it started working again. I did have it up and running all day yesterday, for 9 1/2 hours, and it worked great. I went to open it up this morning and thats when it kept shutting down on me. After I took trial out of the location, it started working again. I guess, when I downloaded the full version, it didnt take that out. Ill see if it happens again, but right now it working.

Thanx Mike :)

Seems I am a victim of my own cut and pasting when I built the installs... :sqerr: :sqlaugh: :sqembarrassed:

Ok, there's a new build available, that should fix all the little critters that were inhabiting some of the new skins.

Just uninstall the old trial version, and install the new build (#121).

Folks who have the V5 full version, already know where to get the download, as it's in your email when you purchased.

It is the same filename, so make sure you clear your browser cache before downloading, as some browsers like FireFox, think it's already there, so won't download the newer one if it finds it in cache. If you have any problems, email me at the Support page, and I will send it direct to you (full version folks) -- trial folks are on their own.

Many thanx to Scott Harris, for helping me debug this weird random thing, as I couldn't duplicate it in-house, so he did all the dirty work, and has been working basically round the clock to help me figure it out. :)

He moved to the top of my Christmas Card/Gift List :sqwink:

Rick - any downside to playing from the "explorer tree"? i recollect having issues if i were playing a song from a subfolder and loading another song from that same subfolder; there was an audio glitch....

Shouldn't be...

Rockit's been completely re-threaded -- meaning that most of the mundane tasks are now done in the background, like displaying the folders.

The more cores you have, the faster it will run, and less chance for any potential glitches.

Couple things to note:

By default, the folder enumeration uses the quick method, which means it just parses the filenames, and does not read the tags. Huge difference in speed, but you'll only see what your filename mask is set to. If you have a fast internal drive, you can change that option.

Pre-Processor is off by default, and you should leave it off unless you need start points. The BPM scanner has been updated, so really no need to check for BPM on load, as you'll get a better value by using the scan. There's a lot of overhead with the Pre-Processor, which can contribute to audio glitches if you're using a slow external drive. It's negligible if you're using a SATA drive though.

Album art lookup via Amazon on deck load is off by default now. It doesn't really matter though, because it has its own thread now.

BTW...

My family is coming up this weekend, for their once a year pilgrimage to the farm to see how old looking I've gotten, and whether I will outlive Keith Richards :D

This means that while they are here, we will probably be at Gully's floating bar down the street for 12 hours a day. Running up a $3,000 per day bar tab, and eventually getting thrown off said boat, when Rick tries to dance, and inevitably knocks over the drum kit, or strips on top of the bar.

What this means to you, is that if you are going to break something on my software -- kindly do so by Thursday evening, or wait until Tuesday or Wednesday, when I come out of the fog -- unless you want to hear me singing on the phone... :sqwink: :sqlaugh:

I run firefox, but have never cleared the cache, how do you do that?

Tools->Options->Privacy Tab->Clear Your Recent History

You'll then have a bunch of options you can play with.

skin 900 is opening everytime now, still didnt get a shortcut but i installed one.4 thumbs up for everything you do Rick.

If I download the same file in Firefox, it just gives it an extension like Rockit1, Rockit2, etc.

Yeah, but it's the same file as the old one -- that's the purpose of the cache. You can usually tell when it does that, because the download completes almost instantly...

That's why I changed the build #, to make sure you have the latest version :)

I added a page to the website that shows the factory default keyboard shortcuts (how do you like that, I'm a factory now) :sqlaugh:

I'm slowly getting around to putting stuff on the website -- it's been a long many months of 16 hours days getting this built, tested and released, so not rushing too hard -- but I'll get all the info out there eventually... :)

Rick - I have not read this entire thread so not sure if this has been addressed or not so here goes:

I was using the full version 5.0 last evening at a fund raiser. I was using skin DJ700W. Deck A worked fine and no problems but for some odd reason Deck B while playing a song would speed the song up and then slow it back down to its normal play. Now at first I thought it was the song and then played the same song on Deck A with no problems. I tried to play several songs on Deck B which produced the same play - normal - speed up - then slow back down. The funny part is that one young man came up to me and said I didn't know Billy Joel did a remix on We Didn't Start The Fire - I just kinda looked at the kid but I knew what was going on by then. So I just used Deck A all evening - Any thoughts?

Perhaps Danno or Co. could move the prior post, and my response to the Rockit 5 thread...

Anyway M...

Rockit's decoder does not have the ability to speed up, nor slow down a song -- only pitch change. It can only play back at the rate it was encoded (hence no tempo/key lock thing). We do no time stretching -- either adding or removing samples.

The speedup would have to be in the output chain (DirectSound output buffers). Probably a sound card driver that is misbehaving...

Net Book Skins

Rick, I have a new net book that I am going to be using as a back up and wedding. There are only 3 skins for net books. Could I request
1. A new skin be made for them be made that is similar to the DJ 400 or
2. Let me know if there is an easy way to do it now. The white colored skins with black lettering that can be easily read in the sun.

That would be so great, thanks so much. This program Rocks
