I have a wedding May 22nd and am still waiting to set up the final meeting for the wedding.

This bride takes about a week to return messages each time I contact her. She will ask questions, I answer them and it is a week before she gets back to me.

I have been trying to get her to set up a meeting to go over everything for about a month and after the week wait, she tells me what works, I tell her which one works best and then because she won't respond for a week, the date goes by.

She does not answer her phone, so many voice mails later, still waiting.

I hate going into a reception with minimal time to make sure everything is in order. I can do it, just don't like it.

Yesterday morning I left another VM stating we really need to get together. And to remind her that final payment is due this Saturday (14 days prior).

Did not get a return call. Last contact was an email from her on April 22nd. So I don't have any reason to think the wedding is off but I think today I will call the venue to see if they have heard anything from them.

My venting is over. Thanks for reading.

Thing is, I don't know if she is a hard bride or and easy one. lol The booking was smooth. Only time will tell.

We get these once in a while. I just send her a simple email stating that it seems like you are very busy. I can certainly understand it. I then attach her an itinerary that I will use unless I hear otherwise.

Believe me, if she has a problem with it, she'll contact you.

If she does have a problem the day of, I easily have back up of the emails I sent her stating what I was going to do unless I contacted her. But the reality it, most things can be changed or adjusted that day if needed.

I've done weddings where they didn't give me ONE bit of information. They said the only reason they didn't elope is because her mom really wanted this wedding. They were both in Law school and didn't want to spend any time planning it. They said just make it look like they spent time planning it. They didnt even pick out their first dance.

Just did a wedding a few weeks ago, the bride was traveling a lot, and only sent me a small list of songs. Her only thing she noted was no garter, that was it. We made it work. She picked out their first dance that night. While that is not ideal, I have no problem doing that.

Sometimes, these little things are not that important to them.

As far as payment, I would send her several invoices before and after the due date.

This is where email planning is a good thing. Karl, I have a sample schedule of events that I usually point clients to. They cut/paste it to a word doc, modify it, and email it back to me. You might think about something like that for this lady.

weird part is
most of these types of hands-off, last-minute brides
are usually the easiest clients to work for on the day of the event.
they have less stress, and aren't afraid to go with the flow.

it's the ones that do everything smoothly leading up to the big day
that you have to watch out for.

your bride is obviously not very anal or very particular...
or she woulda been breathing down your neck weeks ago

Ditto that big time.

I just did saturdays wedding...and the bride was totally laid back.

She wanted me to basically pick everything...she wanted little to no stress because she has been so overwhelmed with work and school, she is exhausted.

And this wedding turned out great.

I tried and tried to have this bride and groom call me to get everything all lined up...and they did not have time. On my way to the event, I'll admit, I was a bit worried if I was even ready to do things on the fly and wing it.

Somehow it all came together, and I know when the younger sister gets married, they will be calling me without a doubt.

Stressful at first, YES! Halfway through the night...this event became a blast.

I sent her a link to my reception planner. And reminded her again of the payment being due on Saturday.

Let's see if this works. I will call again tomorrow if no response.

Thanks for the replies.

well I say if the fee isnt paid by the monday, the price goes UP!! (inflation)

or maybe she just trusts in your capabilities? Sometimes those are the best events when they let you do what you do!

Well for me anyway.

I was not big on planning every minute of the reception. Somtimes things just had to flow.

Paul

If this is the case, she should let me know this.

Paul

I love it when they trust my judgement
and let me call the shots...
but you'd think they'd have enough concern to pick their own songs!

but don't panic just yet Karl
my clients didn't contact me about the details for their May 15th wedding until today
and don't wanna meet with me until the week of.
some people need extra time to make final decisions...
and DJ's needs are not as time sensitive as making a cake.

Well, came home for lunch and there was a message from her. Called her back, Voicemail. Have yet to have her answer the phone. She said call anytime. lol

Phone tag is better than nothing. I did tell her to call my cell. I can answer that pretty much anytime.

I have a wedding at the end of this month that I booked just about a week ago. This bride and groom are laid back.

I sent her anote Monday asking to schedule or finalization and possibly a site survey at the same time for this Saturday if possible. The venue manager said that she is not available for this Saturday but the bride made arrangements to get the key.

We'll meet at the venue, do a site survey and then talk about her agenda.

She has given me no information other than what we talked about in the interview. I did ask her for a do not play list and she say nothing is on the do not play list. She told me that if her guests want to hear something and it fits, play it. She said that if she doesn't like the song she'll either ignore it or walk out till it is over; everybody should have a good time including the guests and the DJ.

I love it!

Payment issues is just another reason why I like credit cards. I just put their credit card info in when I book them and let them know that the balance with be charged 2 weeks before the event. They don't have to remember, and I don't have to chase them down.

It's well worth the % I pay.
