I have been watching demo videos on the net of several different effect lights and I am curious, is a moving head worth the money vs. scanner.

The both seem to perform fairly closely when used for a dance floor.

I was curious what everyone elses thoughts were.

There is a big difference with the movement Moving heads have much more of a wow effect.

The 360 degree left to right is a big thing and I don't know the number but my guess the other movement is 270 degrees.

When people buy scanners they generally don't buy the more expensive ones. They have similar features but when one steps up to moving heads they will have better built in programs, gobo rotation, gobo shake, and better looking gobos in general.

I have scanners, and they cover the whole dance floor, ceiling, far wall, wall to the left and right.

I always sit up with my back close to a wall so there is never anybody behind dancing so they don't need lights back there. Plus with out having 360 degree I never take a 250 watt shot to the eyes
