So I broke down after a weeks debate and bought myself a iPad. I only got the 16gb version as I couldn't find the need for any more storage. So far it's a pretty neat device. And if the developers take to this like they did the iPhone, It will sure be a success.

Since they announced the iPad in January it seems like there has been a mad dash from different companies to support it and get an app hosted in the app store. I just watched 4 full episodes of Fast Forward and Extreme home makeovers. And it worked great. Abc has their own app and you can watch full episodes for free.

The typing is a bit wonky sometimes. It really isn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I am actually typing this post with the iPad right now.

And Yes. It is just an oversized iPod Touch. But that 9 1/2 inch screen is so nice to work with.

My verdict, is it worth the $500 asking price. To me yes, to others no. If you already use a iPod touch or iPhone it will be simple to pick up and start using. If you are new to the "touch device" genre I would wait till they refine it a bit more. There is some places where it Is a bit rough around the edges.

Also the new iPhone OS 4.0 is amazing. They reworked it a bit and my 3GS flys and uses less battery then before. The new OS 4 should be available for general release during the summer when the new iPhone is coming out. I have a beta developers copy of the OS

So, I see it was your first visit to the Gynecologist :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

The iPad looks pretty cool. I don't think I'll be shelling out for it anytime soon though seeing as how I just shelled out for an iPod Touch which I really enjoy but I don't see myself getting much use out of a bigger one. Perhaps for business people on the go and college students it's a better deal.

One of my biggest beefs as a consumer is Apple's accessory pricing. It's bad enough you pay a helluva lot more for the hardware then it's actually worth but they gouge you on the accessories too in addition to locking you into the iTunes ecosystem. It's great for Apple's share holders not so great for it's customers though.

What will be interesting to see is with the built in bluetooth will any BT keyboard work or will they keep you locked into their dock set. I suspect the latter will be true but it makes no sense other than for Apple to shill a few more bucks out of it's customers.

BTW I'm looking forward to 4.0 software for my iTouch too.. I assume I'll have pay a nominal fee for though.

The accessories are a bit much. But that holds true for any apple product. I have dropped well over $300 on just cases for my iPhone. But it's worth it to protect your expensive products.

As for the keyboard. Any BT keyboard will work as far as I know. That support will also be coming to the iPhone and iPod touches as well.

I don't see the iPod touch Beta software on my developers page for apple. If it changes I will let you know and I can add you to my "testing" devices.
Just curious -- are you having any issues with the Wi-Fi?

That seems to be the hot topic, with many having problems connecting, or staying connected...

No issues for my with Wi-Fi. I am running mixed as well (G & N). The wifi speed on ge iPad is great as well. With the speed test website I am getting 14 Mbps down and 5 Mbps up. Streaming video and music is awesome. No lag and everything loads quickly.

not for me yet

will wait for bugs to be worked out and more apps to appear first

And more features... like a camera. I won't buy one until it has a camera. Maybe 2nd generation.

I thought about the camera thing. But to be honest. I can't see my self personally using it to take photos. It's a bit akward to hold it that way.

I would like to see a front facing camera for iChat or something like that.

I agree on both points.... but I would love the option to take a picture if I didn't have any other available options.

Very true. I always have my iPhone on me so that was a non issue for me. I know where you are coming from though.

I almost never remember to carry my phone. I have no idea why.

I agree on the camera aspect even though I have two web cams that I never use it just seems like a feature the iPad should have. As of others have mentioned the typical angle you would hold the iPad at doesn't seem very conductive to video chatting.

For the mac users out there I think iChat would be really awesome if it included the features that Adium has mainly connections to all the different IM networks. Adium is hands down the best IM client I've ever used. Two things I'm surprised about is that Apple didn't port iChat over to it's mobile clients (iPhone/Pod/Pad) and that Adium hasn't released a mobile port. BeejiveIM is sweet on the iPod, a little pricey when there is the free Meebo that does the same thing but over all I think Beejive is worth it.

But wait Guys/Gals there is more on the Horizon!
