:sqbiggrin:I've heard the best way to get the latest music is record pools.

My question is if i do subscribe do they actually work or do they just send you a bunch of new songs that dont ever get noticed in the mainstream?

or

whats the best way to get the latest music.:sqerr:

This question is about as vague as when someone comes up to a D.J. at an event and says something like "can you play something GOOD?"

Record pools, do they work?

Yes. You pay to become a member and you get the music. If they don't, people stop paying, and they don't work anymore.

What is "mainstream" for you? What sort of events are you D.J. for? The answer to those questions will better determine if any given pool services the music YOU want. Most pools or services issue charts. Take a look at their charts, and see what the top songs are on their charts. Do they include what you're expecting them to include?

Without knowing anything about what you do, I cannot suggest what would be best for you.

Great, thank you for the helpful response,

The music that mainly plays in my area (Miami, FL) is dance urban and of course latin.

Browsing around the web i found a site very credible and mainly what i was looking for.

www.dancekings.com/DanceKings/default-ddk.aspx

That's cool...too bad I have to be working 2 nights per week as a DJ to become a member. I just do this as a hobby.

Unless they've changed over the past few years, record pools are known for supplying some Frisbees ~ tracks that don't chart.

Give it a try and see how it works for you. :)

Mobile Beat just promoted an online service that seemed interesting. Totally MP3, and if you bought into their VIP service for $50 a month you could download music from up to 2 years back.. Cool - seemed like an alternative to CDs comming from the regular services...

But I couldn't do it because there was just nothing showing a trend of getting you the music you need. Heck - for $50 a month you can get Prime Cuts CDs weekly and have most everything!

I'm glad you asked this question, i've been looking into these as well, I currently receive Promo Only and Ultimix monthly.....I've been thinking about Subscribing to Masspool DJ Association Also. Does anyone use them and can let me know how they are and what type of cd's you usually receive? I DJ events ranging every style, but most common for me would be top 40 charts ( Mainstream, Urban, Rock, and Country ). I don't like the Mp3 services because i like to have something to show for my purchases, Just me personally. I do Rip the discs to my computer though.
