Never got into lights but more and more clients are asking for them. I usually get a friend that does lights and get him some business but he is not always available So i am getting my feet wet by getting some basic lights and maby a laser. I know this stuff is not high end but its a start. Here is what I got sto start with.

zinc - a user on another board had 2 colorstrips for $135.00...there's plenty of wash
You're in Canada? I've got a Chauvet Kinta, Oceana, Elan, 2 Starball II's.....All duty cycle free and can run sound active....all better than the stuff you're looking at.

Buy a Chauvet Obey controller, you can run it all (except the Starballs) in dmx

The Starballs are used and look it; the other stuff is in "like new" shape...Interested....I'd like to get $400 + shipping for it all....

This would give you a show that will not only work at weddings, but in big rooms (gyms) as well. ...and it all looks good with fog/haze

Before you buy anything ask yourself where are you going to use them and what are clients looking for. Just don't buy lights because they look cool. You see a lot of lights being presented with fog or haze, but remember most halls won't allow it, so they lose their effect. Look for lights that work great with or without fog and that will please most clients.
