Last minute booking through an agency for a wedding reception - Canadian couple coming into town. Playlist arrives very late and incomplete. They want Canadian artists and a lot of country. I've got that covered (although they only put down Guess Who for a Canadian group). Their request list includes John Host Hamilton "A Matter Of Time To Shine".

Huh? The John Hamilton I've found is a Southern soul singer, and I don't know if the the song title is even close. The song lyric search doesn't show much either.

Any ideas? Of course it's for tonight.

Andy

Thanks, Hank.

That seems about right for the lyrics. But where did my contact get John Hamilton out of all that ? And of course it's not in print, or on I-Tunes, Napster or E-Music or Amazon for download. I guess they'd better have it with them.

Followup from the wedding - someone from the wedding party was supposed to come up to verify the music. No one came up. The groom mentioned in the middle of the night that I was doing a fantastic job. All this worry for nothing!
Then at the end of the night I asked the couple if they wanted any last song before I wrapped up ( 1 hour of overtime), and the groom mentions the John Host Hamilton song:sqrolleyes:. He did accept my explanation of the efforts I put in on 1 day's notice.

Andy

Same as it ever was, same as it ever was...

Sorry to hear that, but you did do your homework, so kudos!

I would still like to find that track (it's personal now...LOL). If you follow up with him, maybe you could inquire?

Good job Andy!

Good job pulling through at the last minute!

you had to open your mouth, didn't ya!
you must have known that he would request THAT song!
you were so close to the end, and ya blew it!

:sqconfused:

for me, if I spend too much time getting that ONE song for a wedding...
it usually ends up being the ONE song that never meant that much to the b/g
and I dont even get the chance to play it!
but if I did NOT find that rare song, you can be darn sure that'll be FIRST on their request list on the nite of the reception

Randy,

Thanks for the effort. The groom did not elaborate about whether it might have been Junkhouse. He seemed not to know a lot about music. Most of the requests were for his friends - the MC told me he and his bride didn't even care for country that much.

Ausumm - I'm very familar with that corollary to the Peter Principle. It never fails that the only song they care about of the 10 difficult requests is the one you don't have.

Most of the guests were visiting from Canada. They partied hard - kind of cute to see 50 year olds going nuts for Trooper's "Raise A Little Hell"
