Crowns are awesome... I have heard the Xti-1000 through a set of Yamaha's and I've heard them through a set of Quakes and JBL's at a club.... they are a clean amp...

Plus I have access to the factory and word has made it to me that all new proto-type's will be built here in Elkhart until proven successful and then will be outsourced... So anything new from Crown will soon be built here. Yeah us!

American made is always a HUGE plus in my book!!!!

If you do not mind heavyweights consider the Crown Macro-Tech series. Nice used Macro-Techs can be found, wicked high damping factor makes for tight bass, and I believe these to be a watershed product for Crown.

I'll put my money where my mouth is: I own 2 Macro-Tech 2402's, and a single Macro-Tech 5000VZ. No plans to get rid of them for anything else!

I have PLX QSC's, and RMX QSC's as well, but when the BS stops and the flag drops, the Macro-Techs outperform either of the QSC's..............

however the rack with 2 PLX 3402's and a DBX 223XL crossover gets my vote for easy carry and good enough nut to power big JBL's. No where near the clarity or bass control of the Crowns though.

Best,

Paul

I wish there was a way we could boycott companies that outsource overseas, but I don't think we would have any gear, we would all be on bicycles, etc. etc.

I quit using Dell computers when they outsourced their tech support to India. And called them and told them why I did what I did. Granted we only buy about 50 computers a year, but at least it made me feel better.

Oh the first part about them building the proto-types for distribution from Elkhart is true.... Crown has been here probably as long as Selmer and UMI have been.... in fact Garth Brooks use to come here for new mics and mic fittings for his shows... I don't know if he still does but, my friends at Crown have some great stories.

I've often fantacized about DJ'n an office party for them with my Bose...:sqerr:

Wouldn't that be a hoot?

I could just imagine the house system they could provide for you....:sqeek::sqbiggrin:

I need a moment to wipe the drool.....

My amp rack is on 4" industrial casters and I have a ramp to roll my gear out of my minivan. I think the Macro's will have to wait until my next upgrade. I started with a lot of Behringer gear. I caught a lot of flack for it too, but it has paid for itself, paying for my new van, and paying for it's replacement, in under a year. After the new gear pays for itself, I will start putting the money toward it's replacements, or just add-ons and upgrades. I like to keep my DJ business self-sustaining. I'm not really making any money at it right now, but I have a great time doing it.

some padded lining that would absorb most of the shock, but that stuff was caaaaashy! And I wasn't sure how durable it would be, stuff wouldn't slide in and out very easy.

I leave my stuff in the truck all the time, it's a 1ton, but it rides pretty nice when weighted down. The only thing I've had an issue with is the abrasion on the speaker cabinets, because I don't have cover for them, they just stack in the truck. There are some wear marks on them from rubbing against the wooden tie rails.

As for rack equipment, I just strap it to the side of the truck to a rail and have never had an issue, and it's been riding either in a trailer or this truck for about 8 years.

I've always liked the idea of buying a mediocre system for each gig
having it delivered to the venue
then giving it to the bride and groom as a wedding gift.

sure, it'll cost more, but you won't have to lift or store ANYTHING!
and you can pass the extra cost onto the price!

okay, it needs some work
but it's an idea!

But think of all the boxes you get to play with afterwards!!

Quit whining! :sqlaugh: I am 60 and lift my 4 JBL scoops in and out my van with no help. They weigh 120 lbs empty. When I can't lift them anymore I'll stop DJing.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should:sqwink:
