DMX cables

Ok, now that I have my lights and bulk DMX cable, can someone tell me what length is the most used. 5 ft.,10ft.,15ft.,20ft.,25ft.,50ft.??????

How many of each length do I need to start with? Thanks:sqerr:
 
For that you would need to lay out your set-up...

I would make them custom.(cleaner, looks better) and just make longer one that's universal if your truss is far away from you
 
make them longer. I'd rather hide some extra than have a connector in the middle of the floor somewhere.
 
Find the largest venue you have in your area. Figure out the distance between the lights. My guess is it's under 20ft.

I'd get all my cables at 20ft long or about 1M - 1.5M longer than the maximum distance you measure. I'd get ALL my cables at that length to start. I'd add in a 100' and 2 50' cables for longer runs to get from the controller to the start of the lighting chain.

This way you don't have to be picky about the cables. Every one you grab will be the same length, making your job easier. Otherwise you have to sort all the cables on length and that can be a real mess if you're not careful. In the future you can get other lengths as necessary but with them being just a little longer than necessary you can 'hide' the extra cable (as was mentioned).
