Today I welcome into my home Mackie SWA1501 #5.

#1 Circuit board melted
#2 Shorted and capacitors blew off the board
#3 Amp Caught on Fire
#4 Speaker and Amp Blew

Would anyone like to place bets on how long this one will last?

Or maybe I should move this into the gear for sale thread and sell it before it blows up.

I guess what I don't understand is why you would come on the boards and cry about speakers you don't like but yet you still own them. You just got a brand-new Mackie SWA 1501 is this right? Go on eBay and sell it. See all your troubles would be over. I don't mean to be rude but I just think it's funny when I see people come on the boards every day and whin & cry about stuff they're unhappy with. Sell it, and buy something you will be happy with..:sqlaugh:

I don't think that would cover not providing adequate ventilation, or using processing, or running it to red regularly over the course of the night though.

I have not had a single problem with my 1501s.
 
Everyone has had different expericence with this product. There has been a large number of replacements right off the store shelves.

I had a few other issues with subs and I changed my crossover and it eliminated the problems. I believe there was a problem with frequencies below30hz being created from a problem in my Behringer crossover.

I will only take blame at possible overdriving on the last replacement. The other malfunctions happend at low level use, or just after turing the unit on.
 
Let me ask you a question. After hearing about all the problems other people are having with Mackie Products, and even expieriencing them yourself, why would you continue to buy them? I can't understand that. It's as if you buy these subs and expect them to work for a short period of time and then buy a new one like nothing happened.

Do your self a favor in the future. Buy some real gear, as opposed to the cheaply made sh!t made in China.

P.S. If you are only using these because you want something to match your srm450's, sell those P.O.S.'s too.

Dude... this is not how we are here.
 
I continue to use them because of the low resale value and the manufacture continues to give me replacements free of charge.

They continually replace the units at no cost to me. They pay the freight both ways. I have never had a single problem with my 450's.

I also own Mackie power amps, again never a single problem. A good friend that I do a ton of work with has a 2 - SWA1801's. I use them all the time and have never had a single problem.

Mackie makes a great line of products and I would hardly call the POS. While I have had a large amount of problems with one unit, their customer service is fantastic and they stand behind their product.

yes, this kind of talk usually doesnt happen here....and why dis srm450's when you actually recommend them here in this thread to Papa Deuce?

I don't think that was a recommendation...just a price comparison.
 
I liken it to a situation I had with a starter for my old car...

I bought an aftermarket starter with a lifetime warranty. Put it on and it lasted about 2 months. Got a free replacement and it lasted about 3 months. After going through 5 starters I got sick and tired of being stranded and spent the extra on a genuine Ford starter. It cost quite a bit more money, but I never had any more problems after that. Even though I kept getting free replacements, the hassle wasn't worth it.

BTW, I can now say that I can change the starter in a 92 Ford Tempo in about 10 minutes (including jacking the car up and putting it back on the ground). ;)
