can anyone comment on the colorstrip vs two of the mini. would it be equivilent output. I would like to mount one mini on each of my speakers.

A lot have also complained that the regular was too bright and needed some film overlay to diffuse it. I think the minis are perfect in a pair. Its gonna be my next purchase for lights.

They might be but at least they wont be concentrated in a single are if you can spread them farther aprt
The mini is exactly half of a full size. So the output would be the same with 2 minis as it would be on one full size.

Is there a sound activated mode on the mini where it functions as a VU meter? That could be very cool mounted on each speaker! At least for a couple of songs.

At one of my weddings I had 2 AMDJ RGB 50's mounted to my speakers.
A lot of wash. That hall can accommodate up to 130 ppl. I like them a lot and now have 4 of them.
Shorter size makes a huge difference. I can pack them all with cables in my small gator case.
I'm very careful with AMDJ stuff, but the Mega Bar RGB 50 it's a good product and worth a few extra dollars.
As for Chauvet colorstrip I'm not sure. Saw them in Toronto a few weeks ago. Did not get that feeling...
