Let me open by saying I'm talking about the star background curtains like this:

Anybody ever used one of these? I've been thinking about adding one to my school shows just because I think it'd go well with the "Dusk" theme of the dances. They're about 10' wide and 8' tall which means they'll fit pretty much seamlessly behind me with my truss system. Anyone got a good resource as to where I might find one? I found one website that had them but they're not a sponsor nor did they look like a really quality dealer.

Any thoughts? I've also considered one of those light up facades everyone seems to be sporting these days since it could very well be used for more than 1 purpose.

I think that ADJ cut them off 2 years ago. Still have one with color leds. Any buyers?

I may, since is sleeping in my basment. Have to check if is still working.
Don't remember why end up there...

I may be wrong but I think at one time Kevin Nichols had one for sale.

I posted it on DJChat, but yes, I still have it. $300 shipped. This thing weighs 48lbs.
It's been out of the bag twice. I bought it from Ben.

Hey! Do I have a good memory or what? See, I pay attention to all y'alls rants and raves! :sqlaugh:

So are you just stretching it between the truss columns or how does it work? I know it comes with a stand but I'm looking for some different ways to use it. My current idea for a colored one is to fabricate it into a facade that can be cut on 1/2 way through the show.

The only thing I hated about the LED curtains is the weight.

We had one that we rarely used at the live event theatre I used to work for - Course it was HUGE. Damn thing weighed in at over 300 lbs., but then again, it was close 50 feet long and hung from the arbors over the stage.

My guess was that was a fiber optic curtain. Most of the theater installs i've seen like on my ships have been fiber optic.

These are (to my knowledge) made of a light nylon material and can be held up fairly easily by the stand system included with the original purchase.

I stand corrected Ryan. You are right - that was a fiber optic curtain. Lack of sleep make me say stupid things.:sqwink:

No big deal, i know what you mean though, stage curtains are INSANELY heavy, but i absolutely LOVE how the fiber optic curtains look.

It doesn't stretch like spandex. It has velcro on the sides so I just used the truss instead of the tripod stands. Cool idea on the facade.

After you are finished with the assembly hook it up to a Light Organ or Sound activation device, it will blink in time to the music.
