My experiences....
Awful.....voice, or sound:
1. David Lee Roth, solo
2. Def Leppard...band sounded good, Joe Elliott's voice is pretty much gone
3. Tesla...seats in front of the PA...godawful loud, and lead singer hits once screechy note.....unfortunately....band is still good.
4. Smashing Pumpkins....too loud, and Billy Corgans voice was harsh, and sounded bad.
5. Ozzy....back about 1995. He sucks live....band was awesome, and Zakk Wylde kicked major ass. Seen him with BLS since, and he is better singing than Ozzy ever was.
6. Van Halen, with DLR. Saw them this past reunion tour....DLR cannot sing, and EVH has fell, quite a bit.....really unfortunate. No Michael Anthony really hurt too.
7. Gretchen Wilson....didnt sound good, she was uninspired, and her band wasnt anything special at all. Made Brooks and Dunn sound awesome.
Bands that I have seen that were impressive or at least good:
1. Journey.....no Steve Perry, but before Arnel Pineda....sounded GREAT!
2. Great White....seen them 2x, and always great.
3. Sammy Hagar....every time.
4. Godsmack....every time.
5. Metallica.....impressive production, decent sound...better on the Death Magnetic tour than back with Reload, or whatever the hell they were on back a few years ago.
6. Buckcherry.....pretty good, considering Josh Todd's vocal limitations
7. Garth Brooks....sounded good, considering he is a fat guy, running around like a kid buzzed up on too much Mt Dew...
8. Aerosmith....saw them on the Get A Grip tour...AWESOME SHOW. Also took the gf to them last summer.....still pretty good.
9. Pantera.....crazy as hell, sounded good, albeit loud and lots of green smoke in the air.
10. Static X.....sounded good, even though Wayne Statics style/voice is not my thing.
11. Shinedown.....always delivered. Great band, and fun to watch.
12. Black Label Society.....fun, rowdy as hell, and loud....but still decent sound.
I have been to too many mainstream rock shows.....lol..
