Previously I was mounting it around 7-8 feet single on top of my tripod to the up bar.
Now I mount it below the 4bar Tbut am using my regular Ultimate stand as my c clamp fits the circumference of that stand versus the one provided by Chauvet. If not using the Bat I use the Chauvet stand. I am now actually only getting the bat around 6 ft up and no issues just having to tilt it flush versus a bit down at higher positions.
When I was just trying them out, I had them mounted vertically less than 5' off the ground and was amazed how well they covered the living room, the hallway and of course the cats...
What would look good Kirby....if you've got a fly point of the the top of your mains, rig up a way to fasten a 3 foot section of light pole... and hang it over the mains.....
