I just ordered 100 magnets with my business / website on them.

I was actually thinking of just putting them on the hood of my car when I am in parking lots. Maybe I'll have a magnet made up that says "Take One"....
 
I would think you'll run the risk of scratching your paint job up.
 
Ummm... not sure,,, I had magnets once, a bunch and handed them out to halls and agents and people like that... On my car? I've personally never liked advertising on my car....

If you decide to spend XZY dollars, stop and think what the best bang for your buck is. Magnets? Okay,,, maybe an ad in a local newspaper, or pens or Frisbee's with your name on them.

I do pens, year planners, magnets, and coffee mugs... Plus I give away movie tickets to good customers. I have large magnets on my front doors, and there has never been an issue in the 2 years I have used them.

I'm not so concerned about kids taking them by the handfuls, as Jon posted, because I was only thinking 5 - 10 at a time.

My concern is more along the lines of whether anybody will actually take them....
 
Chuck, does your village/neighborhood do a welcome basket/bag for new residents moving in? If so you could give some magnets to them (along with a pen?) in their goodie bags. Just a thought...

Our local Chamber does this and we'll be dropping off some pens for them to add to the Welcome Bag.

I don't know, my friend. But I keep saying that I am joining the local chamber... maybe this would be a good thing.

I'd use them in promotional materials sent to the Daycare centers.... for example Texas Roadhouse sends us magnents and I have a bout 10 of the darn things right here on my fileing cabinent.

Cool.... it just seems to me that, that type of promotional item is best served if it is in the hands of folks that will book you more than once or given to venues and other vender's that routinely work with DJ's.... espcially in the wedding market.
 
Great idea Chuck. I don't know about the car thing for a) scratching and b) people grabbing a bunch of 'em for kicks.

Here some other places I can think of:

Fast food places: most of them are metal ask if you can put a couple on the front of them

Local bars have sinks and fridges viewable by the bar patrons

Community Bulletin boards: some are metal framed, if not make a little holder out of heavyweight paper.

Magazine/Newspaper stands both on the street and at checkout stands.

Frozen Foods section at the grocery store..all those freezers are metal. :D

Payphones.

Metal Fences..if chain link use a keyring.

Guerrilla marketing pepper those puppies all over the place! :) Weren't you doing radio spots too? Make a special magnet that if it's found they get a free something to make people actively look for them. ;)

I tried. They didn't want me to at the station I wanted to be on. They wanted me on their website.... at approximately 100x the cost of what I pay Google for a paid ad. I passed.

They said that as a rule they do not allow DJ's to advertise on their stations....

They pissed me off enough that I don't want to work with them. But my buddy has a friend who works at Clear Channel.... I may see what can be done there.
