After reading this thread, i wonder if one of you guys could help me with an idea I've had for a while with no way of implementing it. With the 2500, is there a way of playing files separately of the "Main" players? For example: Say I had a 5 second sound effect. Is there a way I could "hit a button" to play the effect file separately than loading it into the main player or having it saved as a loop?
Yea, use a computer. That's how I do it. I don't know of any other way to play samples except for loading them somehow into one of the players.

I never quite understood that one. Same product, reduced MSRP. No product change then price increase?:sqconfused:

Hey Denon, are you out of your f@#$ing mind?

I kind of disagree. When I bought my unit, it was a media player. Since I've bought my unit, they've upgraded the player to be a midi player. They've also upgraded the unit to be a sound card. For me, those things were huge and made the unit much more valuable.

If you made your performance dramatically better, would raising your prices $200? Or, if you lowered your prices to generate more business and all of the sudden your calender was booking up like crazy, would you raise your prices back to where they were?

From a "I would like to save a few bucks" stand point, I too would rather have these things gor for $699. However, I hope Denon sells a ton of these at $899 so they make a nice return which they will then spend even more resources on building newer top quality media players

I, too, use the Denon HD2500 and absolutely love it. If you also get the BU-4500 CD drawer unit (as I did...), you can actually play music from four sources at once, which makes things very easy if you want to go deep into the mix. The flexibility with this unit still amazes me sometimes.

It is a bit scary if the unit experiences a 'hiccup' or something during an event. It's happened to me a couple of times, but not at all after one of the last firmware updates. Having the CD unit saved me though, as I was still able to continue on with my performance without guests noticing.

As Scott said, the unit has been improved dramatically in the eighteen months that I've owned it. I thought it was a huge bargain when the price was reduced to $699 (which coincided with the release of the HD5500, I believe) so I have no problem with the price being brought back up to $899. I will be purchasing another at the end of the season!!

I'm using the DN-HD2500 with Serato Scratch Live. IMO, it's the perfect controller for Serato! I'm still learning new things to do with the HD2500 every time I use it.

Some people think that it is redundant for me to use Serato with the controller when it already has its own hard drive, but I like being able to see my tracks on a much larger screen. If the DN-HD2500 had dual screens... I wouldn't care if the unit jumped from 3U to 4U if they could accomodate with bigger screens on it.

Do you go to Denon direct to get an upgraded HD?

no, on their forum, Silvio posted a link to a western digital 120g hd. I bought it for like $50 and installed it myself. If I can do it, ANYONE can. First time I ever replaced an internal HD.

My warranty was up.

so Scott I think my HD died also I was planning to change it out anyhow but question they were originally saying that no more than 100 gig drive would be safe to install I guess an additional 20 wont make much difference.

jon,
from my understanding, its 127g thats the limit. my 2500 recognizes the 120.
