When you are stopped at a traffic light and you see the car next to you looking at your car and writing down your website or phone number? I never saw that before yesterday, but now I have noticed it 2 days in a row.....

They weren't writting down you phone number, they were taking down the plate number of the guy that just mooned them.:sqerr:

On the tailgate of my truck I use to have the tagline "For A Good Time Call" and my phone number. Let me tell you how much attention that got. I'm thinking of bringing it back. I actually booked a wedding over phone from a girl who read it. She said, if I am as much fun as my tailgate then there's no need to meet with me just tell me where to sign.

Some of the best marketing money I ever spent was on the simple writing on the back window of my Van. Around $150 and it gained me thousands

I ordered a Pizza for pickup one day and the guy on the phone asked me if I was the DJ he sees around town with the marked Voyager. I said yes and got to talking to him when I went in to the shop. I've done 3 events in 2 years for him with number 4 coming up in September
 
I got rear ended once because a guy was getting my info and kept rolling forward. Was just a nudge, but it was enough to get me a booking (and no damage on my van.)

Because I handled it with good humor he figured I could handle his group of "Ruffians".

Power of a positive attitude. :sqbiggrin:
 
Don't know if anyone has ever written it down when I was on the road but I got a call once when my wife was in Walmart, their DJ never showed up and they called the number on the Van. I was already at a wedding. Apparently they were going to buy a boombox to play music when she parked next to my wife.

If I would have been available I would have had a very last minute wedding.
 
We get a lot of business from the van.
Always asked for cards in parking lots, gas stations, etc...

It cracks me up... :sqlaugh:
People comment that they see our "fleet of vans" everywhere.
I think we've only ever had 2 lettered vans at once! ROTF

Luckily, we service a lot of different parts of the area... and work pretty often. It gives opportunity for someone to keep seeing the "fleet" everywhere. Perception is everything!!! :sqwink:
 
I have two magnetic signs on my van and also have put them on the tailgate of my daily driver truck. About the only calls that I know of from them is a girl wanting to know if I would make her a couple of mix cds, for a party she was having in a couple of weeks. Well and one guy called me to say "Slow the F*ck down"

I'm driving an advertising vehicle for a friend who owns a car dealership
with their name and logo on every side.

now I have to be careful of how I drive....dammit!

I get people reading it all the time
but I only get stupid commentary!
 
I lettered my POS truck out then realized how much I loved the ride but how much of a worthless looking vehicle it is to advertise on......who knew how hard it would be to have another person look at a dakota with 240,000 miles.

I put the paint on it at 200,000.




Freakin' idiot. I should just advertise my services on craiglist and bring an ipod.


My next vehicle will be nicer looking and I want to "wrap" my trailer and vehicle both.
 
well all I can say is it screams

I got away from lettering my truck. Don't like to go through the worst part of Miami with a bright red sign that says Mobile DJ here. I rather stay to advertising on pages then on my van which can lead to theft or break ins to the truck.

I have my website on my van and have magnets that I have not had on for awhile, only because I hand washed my van and didn't put them back on yet.

The only time there is gear in my van is when I am on my way to or from a show. Other than that, it is always locked up at home.

If you store your gear in your vehicle at all times, then maybe that might be a problem. But advertising your business doesn't mean you have gear in the vehicle.
 
I guess if they don't look through the window to see if anything is in there, you are correct. But with my Pontiac Montana, all they have to do is look in the window. Even the tinted windows you can see if you look close to it.

I live in rural MN. Things are different here I guess.

Yeah I hear you. I live in Miami and trust me when I tell you, at 2am in the morning you don't want to have a sign on your car letting the outside world know what you are transporting. I have had to ride through bad neighborhoods and having to check my rear view mirrors all the time. I use to have a sign on my truck and to me it was not worth the worries of thinking that everyone was following me. I just advertise as much as possible on paper or net. I figure that the amount of times that someone is going to stop me to get my number is not worth the worries I have of traveling the streets advertising that their is DJ equipment in my truck at wee hours of the morning. It is just not worth my worries anymore to me. But if you don't have the same worries because of where you live, then I say it should pay off to you. Good luck Brother!

I thought of putting advertising on my vehicle, but is it worth it? Does it increase business that much?

Also, I would really like to see some of your signs on your vehicles.
 
I was going to say it but some others already have!

He wasn't writing done your phone number for a gig he was writing it down to do a reverse search to get your home address!:sqlaugh:

Advertising on the vehicle can be advantagous but many of us get paid in cash from time to time which makes you a target, why advertise that fact!
