What to Charge ???

So Ive been contacted to coordinate getting sound for mini festival.
All the labor and gear isgoing tobe subcontracted.A few questions:


1. What do Icharge as a consultatnt?


2. More of an ethical dilemma-
I know what their budget is and it twice what it will cost me to pay the SR guy. Do I take the money pay the SR guy and make as much as the SR guy fof doing almost no work or tack on a small consulation fee ( see # 1) to my cost and call it a day in the hopes that the honesty will get me the gig again next year.

Absolutely. Get paid as much as you can and then add value. Pay close attention to everything this year, make notes and be aware of everything you think could be done better next year. If the equipment is appropriate then you'll know what's needed next year.

If it's feasible, buy some additional equipment, rent some and hire some people to help set up and run sound next year as the main contractor for the whole shebang if you feel confident you can pull it off.This could be a very good opportunity to expand your business.

This gig requires a minimum of 6-8 double 18" Bass cabs and about as much tops plus amps, 24 ch board, processing etc etc. Dont really want to invest money to start buying the equioment. I'll be happy to be a consultant. Reason they needed me was they will have a band and performers playing. Its easy to hire SR people for simple PA purposes but when there are rquiremnt neede by the band, it gets more complicated.
They have never requested Tech Riders from performers and wondered why they were short on the gear come day of the event. I was in bands in myyounger days and still have some experience of how that whole thing works.
25% sounds good BTW.
