Coreen and I have been wanting to upgrade to a bigger and better PC, especially for all the photo editing that's done on our main computer.

So we're having a local business build us one........

Here we go:

Motherboard: Gigabyte MA790XT-UD4P Motherboard - AMD 790X, Socket AM3, ATX, Audio, CrossFireX, PCI Express 2.0 Gigabit LAN, USB 2.0 SATA.

Processor: AMD Phenom II x 4 810 Quad Core Processor HDX810WFGIBOX - 2.60GHz, 4MB Cache, 2000MHz (4000 MT/s) FSB, Deneb, Quad-Core

Memory: Corsair Dual Channel 4096 MB PC12800 DDR3 1600MHz Memory (2 x 2049MB)

Power Supply Unit: Corsair VX550W ATX Power Supply - SLI - RCorsair VX550W 550W ATX Power Supply - SLI-Ready, 80 Plusady, SATA-Ready, 80 plus

Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar Green WD10EADS hard drive - 1 TB, 7200, 32 MB, SATA-300, OEM

Optical Drive - (2) Lite-On IHAS322-09 DVD Writer - 22X DVD+R, 8X DVD+RW, 22x DVD-R, 6x DVD-RW, 16X DVD-ROM, 12xDVD-RAM Write, 32x CD-RW.....

Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTS Superclocked Video Card - 1024MB GDDR3, PCI Express 2.0, (2) Dual Link DVI, SLI Ready.

Operating Sytem: Windows Vista Business/w Service Pack 1

made up one almost as good last week for another client lol

anyway this is progress, as soon as you buy it, its already OLD!!
 
Kirb before they built it have them upgrade you to the 64 bit version of Windows so that you can utilize all that RAM & Video memory.

Long story short: 32 Bit Vista with only address a little less than 4 GB of memory including video memory. You've got 4 GB RAM + 1 GB Video Memory so you're gonna wind up loosing a little over 1 GB of RAM running 32 Bit. It shouldn't cost much to upgrade to 64 bit, it should be the same price.

Other than that sounds like a great system. That quad core is really gonna blow your cheeks off when using photoshop. :) :thumbsup:

LOL...I forgot to include that info....64 bit version is what is being installed...:sqrolleyes: I'm getting a bit spacey working all that OT....:rofl::sqwink:
 
I would be a bit cautious with the GeForce video as NVidia has not been up to snuff in recent history. Do not be surprised by issues or premature failure.

Except, not knowing what Kirby will ultimately use this for, I have 3 software programs that will not run on 64 bit, but do just fine on my 32 bit machines.

I know, but primarily might not include everything... I'm just letting him know that some things will not run in 64 bit... just aheads up. :)
 
Corsair and Kingston get their memory chips from the same place. it shouldnt be an issue.

as for nvidia, i wouldn't swear it for photo-- itll last him a while.

This machine is being built for photo editing purposes and will be the main machine for that.
We have a 2nd computer that will be our backup (gotta have backup) and our 3rd computer will probably end up being designated the ODJT online access portal in our house as I use a laptop for that purpose now and we'll probably take this laptop and use it for editing on the fly when we're out on the road........:sqlaugh: Another laptop is our music database source and the 3rd laptop is supposed to be for Rockit, whenever I get my butt in gear and get things going on that front...:sqwink:

I don't know about 64 bit windows.

I'm having trouble getting many of my programs to run on 64 Bit Vista.



I purchased a new DJ notebook and nothing works.

KJ Pro Database ( Works now but was a pain in the Butt)

Virtual DJ ( Having trouble with Video Hang Ups )

PCDJ (Won't install)

PCDJ KJ (Won' Install)

Karma ( Won't Install)

Winamp ( Runs in Compatibility Mode)
 
Rockit runs really fine on 64 bit Vista :sqbiggrin:


I've only had one program that I could not get to work on 64 -- QuickBooks. And the only reason, is the installer does not recognize Vista 64 (the program would probably run fine if installed).

My (not so humble thoughts) if you are having problems with Vista 64, are...

a) You use sh_tty software, that does not comply with MS standards.

b) You should not be using a computer in the first place, and should be a ditch digger...


Just my thoughts, y'know... :D
 
hey a mate just asked me where is the beer tap on the side so you dont have to get up at all.....
