Why do I actually like the Pussycat Dolls?

I usually hate the groups that are formed by corporations.... I hate that they usually can't write a song or play an instrument. I hate concerts that are all about choregraphed dancing.....

Are they just THAT MUCH BETTER than other groups like that? Maybe it is just because I actually like the lead singer's voice.

They're packaged well?:sqerr::sqwink:

Quite a few of their songs are actually entertaining. IMHO

I just got their latest -- and only 2 tracks that got me...

In Person
Whatcha Think (Missy wasn't needed)...

Not sure who writes their stuff -- but whenever they use the swing influence, they sound great! The hip-hop/rap stuff, is too patent, and boring -- hurts them in the long run...

I wish they'd stick with the swing -- read Andrew's Sisters stuff (they got that down pat) :)

I agree... the horns in Don'tcha are excellent!

Do you hate Motown for the "packaging" too? Most of those groups could sing and dance, but not write, nor play.

I agree that Nicole Scherzinger (lead) is terrific, and yeah, she's kinda cute, too. :sqwink: Oddly enough, her solo album, released BETWEEN the two PCD albums... tanked. Prior to PCD, she was the lead singer for another pop band called Eden's Crush, if you're interested in finding more of her music. If you just like sexy pictures.. talk to Chuck.

Ironically, Missy wrote and produced that one. If she's doing too much of a "guest artist" thing on it, I understand. Missy is among several producers brought in for their songs. Another noteworthy one is Timbaland.

No Steve. As I have said many times, I love Motown.... but that was a different ERA, and the music was just flat out better.

Prepackaged is prepackaged - that's my only point here.

I love Motown, as well.

Motown had the Funk Brothers.... IMO, that already means they are light years ahead of almost anything else ever made.

The Funk Brothers were assembled, player by player, by Berry Gordy. Extremely talented group.

Prepackaged "house" band for Berry's stable of performers. My point remains.

They did an excellent version of "sway" on the 1st release
