I just read the article in Mobile Beat and saw the video on it. It looks like it may do some of the effects of the Bliss light for half the price.

Highly regarded by a person I know. I've yet to see them in person, but essentially seems to be the same thing. I think the bliss pattern is a bit more randomized....These as well as the new Chauvet piece seem like a strict checkerboard pattern....
While it's similar in concept to the blisslight, there are two things which make it not quite as good as a blisslight, in my opinion:
1.) The layout of the stars is not as unique. JTNichol mentioned this above. With the Galaxian, you can sort of see where the pattern is repeated.
2.) It doesn't have the blue nebula. Honestly, the blue sky effect is what makes the blisslight so eye-appealing. There really is a difference between a bunch of little green dots on a plain ceiling and a bunch of little green dots on a deep blue constantly evolving canvas.

I have a Pyro by X Laser, which is similiar to this but with a more random pattern and is also DMX capable.
Also, about 1/2 the price of a Bliss light and no blue light.

It is in a more compact enclosure, and the specifications are slightly different with regard to red vs green mw intensity.
Yes, the patterns do become predictable, but.....
That's only if you use auto mode exclusively , and leave the light on during your event.
Use the DMX programming functions for truly unique displays!
These two fixtures, ( Chauvet Scorpion Storm RG and American DJ Galaxian) are two very exciting visual effects that, in my opinion, no DJ should be without. The 90 degree angle light emission fills your venue with light. And the reflection off the audience on the dance floor is astounding!
Each of these is truly affordable, and the WOW effect on your audience----PRICELESS!

I will definitely be getting one of these...either the AMDJ Galaxian or the Chauvet Storm....We use the Storm at the club but I've never seen the Galaxian...so can someone say which light is "better?"
