School & Teen Events How far out do your schools book?

I am in awe this year at the number of high schools calling for prom with 60 days or less notice. What's the norm in your world?

We book between 10-25% 12+ months prior.
We book about 50-60% in 5-12 months prior.
The remaining 25% or so book 2-5 months. (usually schools new to us)

It is rare we book a prom under 60 days out, but we do get a few calls (usually these schools can not afford our rate). This year we have unusual interest & a higher number of under 60 days calls.

Homecomings are another beast...they are a *little* shorter booking, but still few in the <60 days mark actually book.

I have three proms so far this year two have been booked since last years prom and one was booked just this week. Prom season is the middle to end of June here

I've recieved three contacts in the past two weeks. WTF, I say too. I was already booked for two of them and waiting on a response from the third.

Not sure what is going on with the late contacts, unless it's because fundraising pays for the proms here in our neck of the woods and they might not have been sure how well fundraising was going to go due to the economy.

Most of our schools book EVERYTHING in september while their budget still exitst. Its great because some also choose to write one check up front.

We used to do a lot more schools than we do now (four proms this season) but given the fact that we're booked for weddings a six months to a year in advance (especially during homecoming time), we're doing less and less. The proms that we do every year normally book the day after the current year's prom. Unfortunately, in the last four months or so, we've had to turn down several schools for lack of availability...

In direct answer to your question though, it depends on the school and it depends on the dance...

I'm pretty lucky. I've got 3 schools that book me every year for prom. One of the schools has me pegged until 2013.

Most of the time, 9 mo. in advance.

I don't do a ton of schools but The dance that I'm doing April 4 just got the contract to me yeasterday so that was less than a month. My proms in the past have been 2 months prior.
