I don't have much to go on with this one but I thought I would let everyone know.

It's one of these things.

#1 I got my hearing back.
#2 I getting old
#3 I Cleaned my ears
#4 My amps magically doubled in power.

I find myself more and more often telling myself, "Wow! I'm really Loud" Then I turn it down a bit.

I havent been running anything different as far as equipment. I will say the bars have been slower, so with not so many people I don't need to be extremely loud.

I can say for the last month I have had more headroom than I have ever had in my life. This my help in my new system purchase.

Maybe now you won't be barbecuing drivers. ;)

Cam - if I may make a health related suggestion concerning your ears -

Get some Hydrogen Peroxide, stick a Q-tip down in it and soak the tip really well, and then lay your head on a pillow and then place the Q-tip in your ear and try squeezing the liquid out of it. Allow this to sink into your ear canal and completely immerse it for close to 3 to 5 minutes. It will sound as though your ear canal is being fried, but thats really just the wax being dissolved by the Peroxide.

Once the sound/feeling of the "frying" goes away or is diminished, do the same with the other ear. You may actually notice the kind of clarity you've never experienced before after performing this little operation.

Ear candles are good for this type thing too, but are more expensive.

Just my thoughts.

Cam,
Greg's suggestion helps, but I find it easier to use a dropper (1 or 2 drops) will do the trick and it's easier than trying to "milk" the Q-Tip ;)

My doctor recommended a couple drops of olive oil, she says it will get under the wax and push it out. The upside is it's chemical free. I have had my ears flushed a few times and afterward it feels like I have super hearing.

young...

Cam, as Hugh says, yer gettin' old like the rest of us... :sqerr:

I used to to crank everything to 11 -- slowly over the years, I've lowered the volume a little each year. Now, I'm at the point where I just like it low in the background, unless I'm out dancing and partying...

Jeez, I must be the odd man out.

I put a $2,000.00 audio system in my past two cars.

I just turned 50 and I still love to crank it up in the car.

Music is my life medicine - not beer (sorry Rick).

I have experienced the same sensation from time to time where my system *seems* louder at a given volume knob setting than usual, but at the time I just chalk it up to the particulars of the room or my level of sonic sensitivity or alertness at the time (which will always diminish over the course of the event).

Haven't ever noticed progressing or becoming a trend....

Yet anyway.

Old is in the eyes of the beer holder.....or something like that :sqerr::sqcool:
But then I also refuse to participate in the current recession.

2 things.

1. Cam, I'm with you. I've injured my ears on at least one occasion. The thought of shrill noise particularly in the high range just bugs the crap out of me. It will be the defining reason I quit. Empty rooms suck even more.

2. Peroxide is great to gargle, then spit, then swallow a bit more to IMMEDIATELY cure a sore throat. Try it.

I think everyone missed the point.

#3 I Cleaned My Ears --- Was supposed to be funny. I clean my ears every day if you must know.

The post is that I have no explanation why I seem to be so loud and I'm not maxing out the system.

OK, so I stand corrected. I thought you were being serious about your ear condition...never mind.

Well, I think I found the answer.

The bars have been slower recently and I haven't had to crank it up. With more room for the sound to move, It's louder.

Last night being Fat Tuesday the bar was packed to the point you could not move. I was pushing close to clipping all night.
