Tough Decision

After much thought over the last few days I have decided that 11/20/2008 will be my final event as a DJ. After that I will sell off the gear and walk away.

Some folks I have talked to have suggested that I keep the gear but if it is gone that will make it tougher for me to change my mind.

Now, why? Call it a renewed religious fervor but I want to spend the Sabbath with my wife and my fellow Christian. I want to keep the Fourth Commandment, “Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy”, in addition to the other nine.

I will honor the contractual obligations I have for the rest of the year.

I am happy with the decision and have a new found sense of relief. Others I have talked to have told me that they think it is a good choice as well.

Thanks for all of your support and for putting up with me.

Tom

Tom,

Congratulations on this announcement.

Great job.

Dave

May God smile upon you and your latest calling.

Hearing the Word is as easy as going to church or temple. Acting on the Word comes from the baptismal seed blossoming.

Peace by with you, brother. Peace be with you every step.

Dude... not sure what to say. First Nick B hangs up his headphones and now, you.

I know we 'tumbled' a few but will really hate to see you hang up yours.

If you must, sell the gear but KEEP THE MUSIC!!!!! :D

Have you thought about playing role of booking agent only? Thereby keeping your weekends (and sabbath) free?

I applaud your willingness to follow His Word. However... why give up completely? Cant you still work Saturdays?

Anybody wanna take bets on this one...? :sqlaugh:

Yeah, I bet I will. When I told my wife my decision earlier today her reply was, "thank you".

I know I talked about getting out if I had not met a quota in October and I did meet the quota. But that was actually the begining of the thoughts of hanging up the headphones.

And Ed, I am keeping the music but will toss the junk. I am keeping the computer too.

Sounds like a visit to DE is in order. :D

Tom, you know we respect your decision either way. We've been semi-retired from the biz for awhile and have no regrets. You and the missus are still our dear friends whether you DJ or not. Please, don't become a stranger. :)

Tom : Will you finally sell me your ProWood facade stuff you promised a year ago? Can you hear that calling too?

Tom,
Even though we've had our differences, I tip my hat to you. Good luck and godspeed on your adventures after DJing.

What about role of 'adviser' or 'mentor'? Lord knows many up and coming noobs could benefit from your experience (no matter the DJA folks).

Cap:

I did neglect that and in the meantime I used it for an event and one of my less responsible assistants left some pieces behind. I have more walls than connectors. I'll be going by my partner's place to break the news to him and that's where I keep the gear. I'll let you know what's left.

I didn't say I was walking away from ODJT.

I you suggessting I could have a Merry life after DJing? Pun intended.
