Creating a Website-Where to get graphics?

I just created a VERY rough first draft of what I want my main page to look like. I'm beginning to think that I may not be able to do this myself, I really don't know at this point. I haven't tried using a template and I'm not even really sure how to go about it.

Do you mind sharing the rough draft? I may be able to at least give you a better visual of it. And I could tell you how difficult it appears to be.

With templates, the design is limited by the template. You would have to find one with a layout that appeals to you.

That is not a cool idea :sqerr:

Without written permission from the folks in the photo -- you leave yerself wide open...

There's way too many lawyers these days, who make their living off that sort of stuff!

No offense to anybody here -- but there is WAY too much misinformation in this thread :sqwink:

My website has photos from a photographer whose work I admire. He gladly let me use them, and it was no hassle. It has been up for years (it's overdue to be redone!) and I have had no third party contact pro or con.

Those helicopters have been flying over head too many times, Rick.

Wade, you are spooky. You have been right there and on the money, it's like you're reading my mind.

I REALLY appreciate your offer of help and especially knowing that you know how to do this stuff(I've been paying attention to what you've said in the past).

Here is a link to my fist page. No buttons work and there are no other pages linked to them yet. It's just the first basic rough draft.

I created the rough draft from scratch using the wix website creation software.
I hope to have the song "Blue Skies" playing in the background when the page loads if I can figure out how to do it.

wow Ron not bad for a beginner.!! Good theme!! Look to key on destination events across the net.

though you are using a free site Flash wont be conducive to search engine optimization. consider that when going to completion stage.

I spent a lot of time just looking for a way to create the website. I did multiple searches and looked at lots of different things before finding wix. I even searched Youtube to see if there is a simple way to create a web page/website.

I have no knowledge or experience in website creation and so I needed something really simple that required no HTML coding and no programming of any kind.

Just doing the basic main page was very difficult, time consuming and required intense concentration and effort for me even using their simple to use creation tools and system. I'm not a creative or artistic person and this was very challenging.

I know what I like and what is pleasing to the eye to me, but creating it is a totally different story. I know where my talents lie and doing web creation and all of this visual, artistic stuff isn't it.

It's too difficult for me and very intense thought. My head was spinning after a few hours. I understand why people hire other people to do it.

Wix was the one I finally found that was simple and allowed me to try it easily without making any major commitments. I was up all night working on the layout, colors, fonts etc.

Today I'll work on it some more, add some more pages that link to the buttons, clean things up and try to make sure that I have everything on the main page that I want.

I'm striving for simplicity. Simple, clean look, simple verbiage, simple theme. My goal is to get them to call or email me, nothing more.

I just wanted to say good luck with your endevours. It can be scary, but its always worth the ride, no matter what happens.

Personally, I wish i had taken my business more seriously when i was working full-time.

I am now currently saving up every penny I can for a logo and web-site design. I just don't have the creativity, energy or patience to do it myself, so you are way ahead of the game in that regard. :)

if your really really desperate for free pics - just ask nicely and you never know what I have sitting on my hdd here

I have always used pics from my own weddings gotten with permission from the photographers themselves... I always make it a point to network with photographers at the event and after the fact IF they were great to work with, to exchange links and get some pics from the night. They love the free exposure and I get an awesome portfolio!

Its a great way to build your own photo galleries and marketing pics. Just get their permission, get the pics at their online proofing galleries when they're ready, or from them on disc and voila!

Some of my fav pics are shown here on a collage I did that is on my homepage.
